Fruits and vegetables are high in vitamins and antioxidants, which help protect against cell damage. Getting plenty of vitamins and phytonutrients help boost the immune system to ward off bacteria and viruses. Betacarotene found in dark, leafy vegetables helps keep the eyes and skin healthy. Fruits tend to be high in Vitamin C, which keeps the body fighting off colds. There are so many positive benefits to eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, it's no wonder the medical establishment recommends we eat five or more servings per day!
