Some of the Sony SXRD TV projectors suffered from a symptom known as the "green blob", a smear of yelloe-green on a portion of the screen. It is an imager defect that can show up after the set has been in use for several hours. I don't know if this is the same as your problem, but you should contact Sony about it.

Assuming your projector is an LCD projector, this means that one of your LCD panels is burning out and requires replacement. Hopefully, it's just one panel. It will cost you at least $300 to replace. I hope it's under warranty.
Contact one of Sony's authorized service centers to get it repaired.
