Okay, I'll give you my recommendations in just a sec, but I will say that if you go with Jackson Triggs or Inniskillin, you'll want the higher priced wines from them. The "entry level" wines they produce are good but they won't impress. Jackson Triggs and Inniskillin are owned by Vincor International which is the biggest wine company in Canada. There are some of their wines that I truly enjoy but there are others that I wouldn't go near if I was paid a million bucks to drink. I've included the names of each wine with their respective CSPC code which the LCBO assigns to each item that lines it's shelves. If you print this out and take it to your local store, than they will be able to find it faster with these codes. I realize you didn't specifically ask for Canadian wines - just one's available at the LCBO. However, I know that all of these are outstanding as all of them are medal winners. Best of luck.

White Wines:

1. Peller Estates Ice Cuvee (used to be called Cristalle)
18986; $29.95
One of the best sparkling wines produced in Ontario.

2. Colio CEV Gewurztraminer 2002
432104; $14.95

3. Willow Springs Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2002
692624; $12.95
If you are able to get your hands on Willow Springs' Riesling, try it instead of this Chardonnay because it's amazing. However, I think you have to buy the Riesling at the winery itself.

4. Birchwood Estates Gewurztraminer/Riesling VQA
572156; $10.95
Very reasonably priced wine coming from the smallest of the wineries owned by Dan Akroyd.

5. Chateau des Charmes St. Davids Bench Sauvignon Blanc VQA
391300; $15.95
Make sure that you are picking up the St. Davids Bench version of this wine. They have both the general line and the Estate line also available but the St. Davids Bench version is well worth the extra couple of dollars.

Red Wines:

1. Henry of Pelham Baco Noir VQA
270926; $12.95

2. Malivore Gamay 2004
591313; $16.00

3. Willow Springs Cabernet Franc 2002
692673; $14.95
This wine is so good that they are sold out at the winery. A few cases remain at the LCBO so you'll be able to find them.

4. Chateau des Charmes Equuleus 2002
319525; $34.95
A rare wine made by one of the older Niagara wine families. There are very few wineries in North America who make this wine but the oldest son convinced the father to make this wine and it is well worth the price.

5. Colio CEV Reserve Merlot
500447; $24.95

Hey, reduce the set considerably,

Sparkling White Wines:
Austi Spumante from Italy

You need a Merlot. There are many nice ones. This is a red wine you can have with dinner or by it self.
You can even go for the Canadian one from Jackson Triggs.

You need a nice dry riesling.

Canada has the best Ice Wine's these are for desert. I recommend either Jackson Trig or Inniscilin

Something different? Try the Pelee Island wine from cactus. Its nice white "wine", great with dinner

I hate chardonay so don't ask me about it.

OK Jackson Triggs wouldn't impress anyone if you want to impress her.
Red
Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cabernet
Dancing Bull Zinfandel is really good

White
A New Zealand White wine is always great
Firefinch Sauvignon Blanc is good just came on the market a couple of years ago. Don't know the availability.

Its been a couple of years since I worked in the liquor store so that's all I can think of off the top of my head

If someone thinks your taste in wine is poor then that's snobbery. Tastes in wine is a personal thing. What I like U may think is horrible. Some of the so-called premium wines I think are crap, prefering others of differing taste. U get what U like. If she doesn't like or apprieciate your selection, to bad. At least U will enjoy.
