"Illegal alien" is the official term used in legislation and by the border patrol for a person who has entered the country illegally or is residing in the United States illegally after entering legally (for example, using a tourist visa and remaining after the visa expires).

"Undocumented worker" is often used by supporters to refer to all individuals lacking legal documentation, including children and those who do not work. They argue that it is offensive to describe any human as illegal, whether or not their behavior is illegal.

I don't like PC terms, but this one fits.

How about just being open and honest and call them 'illegal aliens'. 'Undocumented workers' doesn't cover all illegal aliens. The use of the term isn't racist and applies to those of any race who are in this or any other country illegally.

Well lets see an undocumented worker is anyone who is not working and reporting their earning to the government. That is undocumented work your talking about illegal aliens, legals aliens and American Citizen whom do not claim any taxes even though they are earning money.
ILLegal Alien is one who lives in this country without permission from the government.
maybe Illegal Resident. But now you have shown how the ones that work here have brokent the law twice.

Why, illegal alien is completely accurate. If there is one thing I hate, its political correctness. No where in the Constitution does it say that you have the right not to be offended. Using a euphemism like 'undocumented workers' to describe illegal aliens, is like referring to child molesters as having an 'age challenged sexual preference', it just doesn't convey the true meaning.

unlawful extraterrestrial beings and undocumented workers are 2 diverse products. unlawful extraterrestrial beings is the term the international makes use of to % out people who've crossed their national border and are in yet another united states of america different than their own. there is surely no such ingredient as an undocumented immigrant, and that's severe to objective and get the political individuals without delay in this project. the place a central authority calls for the folk account for themselves, you have documentation that does that. in simple terms approximately all international places i'm conscious of in the commercial tier do call for documentation.

why is it racist to call them illegal aliens? Alien could mean anyone that is from the outside. Undocumented worker could mean they are working without resume' or have not completed a job application.

I guess you could. I've been an undocumented worker. I think the more logical name would be, "illegal immigrant". Look up what alien means. It's not racist. Besides, they are what they are and we shouldn't be sweet to them and try to treat them nicely when they have done something illegal like penetrate my country's border without approval.

What's racist about "illegal alien"? No race statements at all. "Illegal" means they're breaking the law, "alien" means they're not citizens of the country.

"Undocumented workers" is a feel-good term used by those who are trying to ignore the fact that illegal aliens are BREAKING THE LAW.

NO... they are alien to this country as non-citizens, and they entered or remain in this country illegally.

Since WHEN is "politically correct" a GOOD thing ?? It is for politicians and those who wish to ignore facts.

Should we start calling RAPISTS "aggressive sex-specialists"? Maybe we can call RAIN "heat-challenged snow"... instead of being CLOUDY, it's merely "solar-radiation reduced"...

No race is involve in the term "Illegal Alien"... racism comes into place be those who wish to ignore or legalize illegal immigration.

An illegal alien is an illegal alien if they are Chinese, Russian, Irish, German, Mexican, Ecuadorian, Panamanian, Philippine, Indian, Nigerian, Australian, Austrian, or Latvian

Could you explain how illegal alien is racist? If you can give a logical explanation as to how and why you view it as racist maybe I would stop using it. Until then it aptly describes their situation (as does undocumented worker).

No, because they are not just undocumented, they have entered our country, violating the sovereignty of our borders, illegally. They are illegal immigrants or illegal aliens! Why spin it any differently.

And it is not about each individual that entered our country illegally, it is about our governments failure to properly address the problem. And a problem it is. Want an example? We could start with gangs!
