I just got my navel pierced 2 days ago and I'm trying to take the best care of it. Some people are telling me to use peroxide, alcohol, and antibacterial soap; and others are telling me not to. Also, I was told that I should turn the barbell around a couple of times, but it won't turn. i don't know if it's because I'm kinda thick or if it just won't turn.....Please Help.

no no no no! the people who are telling you NOT TO USE PEROXIDE, ALCOHOL, and neosporin ARE RIIIIGHT!! its says not to use thhose in the middle of my aftercare pamphlet when i got my navel and cartilage pierced...

these increase the healing time for the piercings it kills the good tisses....also causes great irritation to the piercing.

LITHA(leave it the hell alone!!!!) dont touch it, dont turn, nothing! this will also increase the healing time and possibly give you a greater risk of infection

it doesnt seem leik you went to a great place to get it done at since you don tknwo the aftercare.....please dont touch it

please. stick to antibacterial soap, aftercare pierce solution, and sea salt soaks. only theses 3 nothing else!!!!!!! period!
the sea salt soaks will be the most important thing for you to do. these soaks draw out any discharge (lymph) and clean out the navel piercing, and increase the healing time...

here are some websites you soudl definately look at!!!

http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Piercing_Aftercare
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Salt_Soaks

please stay away from rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or any ointments/creams!!! very very bad for piercings...dont touch it... it was good you got a barbell instead of a hoop as well....hoops are a harder time to heal. most people get barbells as a navel piercing as first then switch to the captive bead rings when they are fully healed

you can also take zinc tablets to increase the healing process as well....

yes your jewelry will crust.. this is noral .it shouldnt hurt. mone is 6 months old and is still crusting.. its a natural part of the healing process.

please do not touch your jewelry AT ALL. bactine is also not reccommended it even says "do NOT use on puncture wounds" piercing ARE puncture wounds.......

Don't play with or move it too much. Don't worry about trying to turn it either, move it up and down when you clean it only.Do not apply neospirin, its an open wound. Give anitbacterical soap a try but it was too harsh for me. Go out and find Sea Salt (try Wal Mart) and a shot glass. Use warm water and just a little bit of the sea salt, then mix. Invert the shot glass over your piercing and lay down for like 10 minutes. The salt will not burn or anything. Its a good way to safely clean your new piercing. Trust me, I have done this for the last 6 months and it works. Please listen don't use the peroxide and alcohol! Listen to 3mm5!! She is totally right too!

Ok, heres the truth... I have had my naval pierced for like jeez, 7 years now and never, not once has it been infected. I washed it everyday with dial antibacterial soap, the pump hand soap, just put it on when your in the shower and move the ring in and out.. get the soap in the hole, then rinse the soap out... then throughout the day or on the days you don't shower use bactine first aid spray. it works awesome. just spray it on and then wipe it off. When it starts to heal... there will be like crud on it.. this will soften it up and wipe it all off while preventing infection. I never had a single infection... it worked great. Try to stay away from long dangly rings, I know there cute, and EVERYONES WEARING THEM, but if you wanna get it ripped out, then go ahead... stick with barbells and the round ones. O and watch our for those loofah things in the shower.. man that thing will grab right on to your ring.....and yank before you even know it good luck!!!

it is just healing ive had many many piercings all done professionally and it's normal for your piercing to be red and maybe even have secretion for up to 2 or 3 weeks, i'd say if it isnt better within a month or two then get it checked up on. although mine took an entire year to heal but it got all kinds of infected

the best thing to use is sea salt dissolved in warm water. soak and rinse twice a day. don't use peroxide or alcohol, they will dry it out. and you should have a hoop instead of a barbell so you can turn it every time you clean it

While you are in the shower, use DIAL antibacterial soap...in a pump. Get that into your belly button. While the soap is in your belly button, turn the ring a few times. Do this every day a couple times a day. DO NOT use anything EXCEPT Dial in a pump...the gold stuff.

I would prefer iodine over peroxide. The alcohol and antibac soap are ok.
