As long as any given religion claims sole proprietorship over the definition of god and the means by which one can attain god's pleasure and/or salvation, the murderous battle between religious beliefs will continue until the end of time. Given religious history and the continuing battle that we see spewed across the front pages of our newspapers on an almost daily basis, there are a few possible answers out there to make this insanity end.

1) Some believe banning all religions and religious practice is the answer. Unfortunately, this is a simplistic in nature and will not solve the problem because those who continue to believe, will go underground.

2) Some think dropping a nuke on our religious enemies, thus wiping them off the face of the planet is the way to go. There are many reason why this is nothing short of pure insanity but given the topic, this action flies in the face of all moral and ethical behavior outlined in every alleged religious text. It should be avoided at all costs.

3) Build religious tolerance and respect. This is a glorious ideal that has been tried for quite some time and has been the genesis of many organizations promoting this ideal. Unfortunately, given the amount of time that this has been tried, and our current state of world religious affairs, I think this is more the "outcome" rather than an effective strategy to end the hostilities rampant between religions.

4) This is what I believe will work. "Wake people up to the divine within."

For whatever reason, be it the influence of some ultimate, creative intelligence or simply the way in which life on our planet evolved, all life, and in particular human beings, have an inherent ability, due to the gift of consciousness, to create reality. This has been proven by the science of Quantum Physics and is manifest in every choice that we make. Consequently, if everyone took a moment to contemplate their creative nature, which is internal and works at the cellular level, they would find the divine within. That spark of creative intelligence that cannot be physically found by any scientific means yet is present in life itself. By doing so, they would discover,

a) That they are co-creators with the divine, or

b) Simply creators due to some accident of birth.

Either way, that internal knowledge would open them up to the idea that everyone, to one extent or another, is inherently divine. Further, they would realize, due to this discovery that what they put their focus on creates their truth; their reality. Knowing this automatically creates the understanding that all religious and spiritual belief is true at its core level. But first, you must take what you have learned from the specific text and apply it within. If it rings true, it is true, thus every religious path, or lack of a religious path, is true for the specific divine individual.

I believe this is the way to religious tolerance and respect. Unfortunately, I do not see this happening anytime soon due to the fact that most human beings see reality as something that is exterior to their being. They don't see how their thinking, their actions and reactions create reality. But if the day should ever arrive (massive education perhaps?) where the majority begin the process of looking beyond the text and into their very being, waking people up to their divine nature will be the strategy that will invoke religious tolerance and will ultimately end all hostility between religions.

It's probably not religion to begin with. Most the religion can do is blanket the true monstrosity that dwells inside certain groups of hive mind individuals or just plain psychotic individual. I am a christian and I've met other Christians who persecute me for being a liberal, I've had entire church tell me I'm wrong and siding with the devil, etc. Religion is not means to start a war, and if war or dispute is started, it is probably because the person is not brave enough to tackle his/her own problems and would rather use a system of belief built over as an excuse to hide such feelings.

3. Put good family values on the top e g respect older and other people near you regardless their religion or anything else. it is a human beings all the time.
4. Awareness of fanaticism in any condition and put it in a line with addiction

O People of the Book! Let us rally to a common formula to be binding on both us and you: That we worship none but God; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than God. (Surat Al 'Imran, 64)

Thsi verse from Quran is the Best and Easiest Way to End the Hostilities between Religions. People of Book is used to refer to Christians and Jew.

This is indeed our call to Christians and Jews: As people who believe in God and follow His revelations, let us rally to a common formula - "faith". Let's love God, Who is our Creator and Lord, and follow His commands. And let us pray God to lead us to an even straighter path.

When Muslims, Christians and Jews rally to a common formula this way;

When they understand that they are friends not enemies,

then the world will become a very different place.

The fighting that has raged for ages, enmities, fears - and terrorist attacks - will come to an end, and a new civilization based on love, respect and peace will be established upon this "common formula".

Respect

If, as the muslims say, their religion is a religion of peace, they need to have a wise authoritative world leader who will stand up for this side of their religion, and can meet with the pope, instead of different Imams saying different things.
Wherever there is trouble between religions the truth is it tends to be muslims involved.

Make Judaism, Christianity and Islam compulsory subjects at Colleges and Universities. People will easily discern which is true and embrace it en mass. The minorities will eventually fizzle out leaving harmonious societies.

The places where there aren't hostilities are where there is frank and open discussion and respect for each other. So I guess that the way forward is to help that process of discussion and respect.

Starting to listen to one and other. If a dialogue would be started worldwide, people would learn to understand each others beliefs. This would lead to respect.
Unfortunately i guess that would be Utopia.
