I have summarized the best answers and added my own.
1) They mistake bad behavior for confidence, strength, or personal security that does not exist.
2) They want a “cool guy” and think that nice guys are losers.
3) They want what they cannot have.
4) Some girls are weak and insecure, therefore allowing men to treat them like that without stopping it.
5) Girls like to prove their superiority and dare to challenge obnoxious and rude guys.
6) Most guys are rude, so nice guys scare them off.
7) They are used to their fathers and brothers behaving like that, supposing that it is the norm.
8) They think bad guys will make them more popular.
9) They enjoy playing “hard to get,” which gives bad guys the advantage who do not respond right away.
10) They mistake enthusiasm for being desperate and it turns them off.

Most girls like a strong and head strong men and they get confused if the man is rude or prideful. The women are under the misconception that these attributes are attributes of strong men. They will soon find that they are wrong. It is mostly immaturity on their part and insecurity on the guys part. But on the other hand a kind man is not to mean that he should do everything the girl wants him to do. That is a wimp. A real man has a good understanding when to be kind and when to take charge of any situation. This is what most women want.

My answer comes from a lot of studying this topic.
Basically, it boils down to: There is a generic "cool guy" and a "loser".
Being a nice guy and treating a teenage girl really well, showing them that you like them and going out of your way for them doesn't fall into the "cool guy" category.
Being "cool about it" and pretending like she is just nothing more than "just another girl" .. apparently teenage girls put this behavior in the "cool guy" category.
Unfortunate, isn't it? But it's alright, because once they are over 20 they grow brains.
P.S. No offence intended girls, .. you know it's true anyway.

i do the same thing. i have a good guy right now but for some reason i'd much rather be with this guy that thinks that i'll just roll over and die for him. my reason is that i had a bad childhood and seen how my dad was so maybe it's just how people were rised and they think that they can't have a good guy in there life, they are so used to being around asses that they don't care anymore

I think it is because everyone wants what they can't have. When girls are not looking for mr. right, they go after the ones who are hard to get. This went on for me while i was in highschool, i couldn't explain it, but i wanted the guys who were out of reach, and once i got them, if they were too lovey and romatic, i no longer wanted them. But if they treated me badly, didn't call me, and what not, then it just made me want them more. BUT, i grew out of that. After getting my heart broken one too many times, i decided i wanted a real guy, and a real romatic relationship. I don't know if every girl will grow out of it (most of my friends still date the *** holes). But once i knew what i really wanted, i found the perfect guy. My boyfriend will come up to my work just to visit me, and he will bring me flowers for no reason. or i will come home with a card and some candy on the table for no reason. It makes me melt. After realizing that i actually wanted a guy like him, i found him, and i fall in love with him more and more everyday.

Girls like confidence, just like everybody else in the world. Maybe you should seek to understand these guys, rather than judge them at face value.
..."treat them good." Do you like girls who would "treat you good?" Or do you like the girls you like?

i for one don't like guys like that, to me it is only a sign of weakness on the guys' side, and the only way to proove they are men is by picking on ladies who are weak and depend so much on men. It could be that she grew with a hostile father or known only rude guys all her dating life,so that she easily get scared when she really meets a gentle guy who is ready to treat her nicely and show her the world[so may be she is scared],but sometimes, guys can be so deceptive,at first they are the perfect gentlemen, but as time goes on, you get to see who they really are.

Bcoz girls like to prove their superiority & dare to challenge obnoxious & rude guys. It doesnt necessarily means that they like them. Sometimes girls just wana have fun & be as boisterous & vulgar as any guy would want to.
