The answer depends on the kid's age. Little kids probably would like candy or money or the same kinds of toys that little boys and girls everywhere like (lego, barbie, etc.). Older kids (like grade 3 and up) probably would like money the best. You should put it into a card, Western style, or into a plain white envolope with both the receiver's name on it and yours (modern Korean style). Even though most kids LOVE video games, they can play most of them for free at a local PC game room (arcade/cafe)--but they have to pay 1,000 won or more per hour to use a computer. You should give won, if possible, not your local currency, as kids wouldn't be able to exchange currencies at a bank. If you can't give won, give U.S. dollars. Some game rooms or shops might accept U.S. dollars....
TRULY TRADITIONAL PRESENT:
Kids used to get wooden toys, like blocks. You might be able to buy something like that at Insadong street in central Seoul, or on the internet. However, be forewarned that modern Korean kids wouldn't appreciate receiving old-fashioned toys. They also wouldn't appreciate educational things, such as English--or maybe even Korean--books.

Lots of Korean kids like to have books because they study and read a lot. Otherwise, they would want money to buy little things at the mall.

MONEY!!!!
Traditionally the kids get money from adults on occasions, specially on new year.
It will be a big show off time if they received some American money$$!!!
The toys and sweets are next.
However, they'll not know what to expect from you, for you being a foreigner. Anything represent you or your country will make a big hit.

Probably video games. They are pretty high tech savy over there but you got to know what they have.
Mabye some comics too. Mangwa is pretty cool.
Really depends what angle you are coming from. You want to give Korea kids something or you want to give your kids something Korean.
You buy something for somebody in another country you should probably try and get them something they are less likely to have.
