I don't speak czech, but I speak Russian. I don't want to dissapoint you or anything, but it is not an easy language for English speakers. Besides the fact that you will need to learn the Cyrilic alphabet (it shouldn't be a big problem), Russian grammar is much more complicated that English, with verb, noun and adjective conjugation, genders and other elements not found in English. Vocabulary also will not come as easily and naturally as, say, learning Spanish or French.
However, many people learn it (I did too!), so it shouldn't discourage you. It would be very helpful if you could live in Russia for several months or communicate with Russian-speaking people.
Good luck!!!

Depends a bit on your native language. Not sure about Czech so I'll answer about Russian. If your first language is English, it is quite hard because Russian uses the case system with a flexible word order, so you need to know English grammar (ie, what's the subject, what's the object, indirect object etc.). Russian also uses perfective and imperfective aspect which is unfamiliar to an English speaker. Those two things are the main problems Russian learners have. The alphabet can be learnt in a matter of hours and reading comes quickly as Russian is mostly phonetic. Pronunciation is also pretty simple. I would say it's easier than a lot of people might think but like all languages, you need to work at it.

You can not gain knowledge of a language through studying books. You need to have publicity, both transfer to Russia or watch Russian TV at all times. I'm Russian and lived in Canada for decades, even I'm no longer one hundred% fluent. How are you going to gain knowledge of from a booklet. Move to Russia, discover a whole time activity amongst Russians, speak to Russians all day lengthy, watch Russian TV. Than you can be respectable. Everything else is a waste of time. If you do not use language on a steady groundwork you can overlook it. Like I'm forgetting my first language. So yeah, dangerous concept. Invest it slow into figuring out, you can are living longer.
