From Wikipedia,
"A pentacle or pentacle is an amulet used in magical evocation, generally made of parchment, paper or metal (although it can be of other materials), on which the symbol of a spirit or energy being evoked is drawn. It is often worn around the neck, or placed within the triangle of evocation. Protective symbols may also be included (sometimes on the reverse), a common one being the five-point Seal of Solomon. Many varieties of pentacle can be found in the grimoires of Solomonic magic; they are also used in some neopagan magical traditions, such as Wicca.
Owing to their similarity, the words pentacle and pentagram (a five-point unicursal star) are sometimes confused, although their etymologies are different. Adding to this confusion, in modern Tarot decks and in some forms of modern witchcraft, pentacles often prominently incorporate a pentagram in their design."
It is considered Satanic by the religious right because Satanists co-opted the symbol then turned it upside down so that the bottom two points would look like the devil's horns. In it's original form, top, single point standing upright, it is not Satanic by rather a symbol, in the broad, general sense, of life. Unfortunately, due to this beautiful symbol being co-opted by Satanists, it has been tainted like the Swastika. The Germans took it, bastardized it's true meaning, and now the general public retains the offensive meaning rather than the original meaning. Sad.

Pentagram is NOT considered satanic on general principles.
The upturned pentagram is a symbol of the earth, and the circle around the five arms of it symbolizes the unity of the five elements.
That's why it is a commonly used symbol in magick. The upturned pentagram is a very powerful symbol, but of course, you can use the power for good or for bad. It's up to you.
The downturned pentagram, however, is the symbol of a fallen angel and therefore used to represent satan.

The pentagram signifies what you think it signifies. It is lines, nothing more.
It used to be a symbol of truth. Even Christians used the pentagram as a symbol of truth and the five points marking the five wounds of Christ.
Nowadays the pentagram is often used by those in earth-based religions and the points mean the different elements for instance water, fire, earth.
The pentagram is not Satanic but the inverted (upside down) one is, as it is often used by Satanists as it symbolises fire, or the physical, over the spiritual, if I remember correctly.
However the ordinary pentagram is often thought of as satanic by fundamentalist Christians simply because it has become known as a symbol of non-Christian religions such as Wicca. Fundamentalist Christians believe Wiccans are deceived by Satan, and that Wiccan gods and goddesses (like those of other religions) are demons in disguise, so the pentagram is seen as Satanic because of this.
The pentagram also used to be a symbol for the Goddess. The apple, a common symbol of the Goddess also, contains a five pointed star if you cut it down the middle horizontally. This caused the pentagram to be further disliked by the male-dominated Christianity.

It's an old Pagan symbol that signifies the unity of the five elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit.
It's considered Satanic because it has been inverted and used by Satanists to represent the goat. Just as they invert the Xian cross, and the Swastika and use those for their own purposes.
And also because Xians just don't know enough about it, and adopt the philosophy of : If you're not with us, you're against us. Therefor, anything they don't understand must be from Satan.

The pentagram is an ancient symbol. To modern pagans it is a holy symbol, like the cross to the christians, it is considered satanic principally from the narrow-minded and ego-centric christian belief that there are only two spiritual forces in the universe, THEIR god and THEIR devil and if it isn't connected with one then it's the other.

It is a pagan symbol for the sacred feminie. It was labeled satanic by the early roman catholic church as a means to discredit old pagan religions.
