In a way, but there are so many different facets and tenents to that alone.

Being ready to die means knowing where your soul will spend eternity and also hopefully having made a good impression on enough people that they say something nice about you at your funeral.

In my opinion (get ready for the thumbs downs!!!) having Jesus in your heart is the best prep. for death. You never die a spiritual death, only physical.

Peace. Good question, bloody.

Well, I guess that might be the case if you are a follower of one of the three monotheistic religions. They all go into great detail about how you should conduct your life so that you will have a ticket to heaven. But I personally find this highly negative, self destructive, and extremely dangerous to our natural environment. Why bother with this world if your focus is squarely on the "next" that's being described in some alleged mythological holy text?

On the contrary, I think our purpose in life is to "create." We are the ultimate in sensory machines. Able to take in billions of bits of information on a daily basis. From there, we digest this info and take some kind of action. Our thought processes and the actions we choose are what literally create our reality. Consequently, I've come to the conclusion that the sum total of our choices, our creations, either make us ready for our exit - or we react badly to it because we are unhappy with those choices and wish to change them - or we feel we have a great deal more to do.

Personally, I'm far from ready to exit. I have a great deal more to do.

Yes, because when you know where you are going after you die, then you have fulfilled your personal purpose. Then you can go on and help others see their purpose, to know where they are going. To accept salvation, and be ready to die, is one of the purposes of our short human lives.

Seriously, the purpose of life is to serve God by doing His commands as outlined in the Bible in Deut. There really are BLESSINGS and CURSINGS attached to your obedience or lack there of. It is also an INDIVIDUAL CHOICE, so don't go looking for any right-wing Christian fundamentalist (that's me and PROUD of it) to blame it on. That just makes you a bigger loser (you being the collective you).

Christians are not afraid of death because we know about the heaven waiting for us. We also know about the hell that is waiting for the non-believers. When you know what I know, it is an easy choice. That is why I don't want anybody to go to hell. But I can't make the decision for them--they must do that on their own. Go to the internet and type in "what is the wrath of God?" Oh yeah, the wrath of God is for those who did not choose Him, because He is a jealous God and has given you as much leeway as possible to make the RIGHT choice.

Earth is a proving ground or a classroom. You decide. Got your roadmaps ready?

This is my personal opinion. Life is to be lived. Regardless of wealth, power or station in life, we are God's representatives on earth and are here to help others when we can. We all have various talents and can share them. We must also try to balance in our lives those that follow this philosophy and those that want to hurt or use us. The cliche "do unto other..." isn't followed by all yet we must do our best to follow it to the best of our ability and not allow those in our lives to use us over and over again. All in all, in the very end, those that use their life to do no harm, will be rewarded. That reward could be great things or just simply peace of mind.

Is it only to be ready to die? No. I'm not sure what my earthly purpose is but I do know whatever it is it is preparing me to live, eternally

The purpose of life is to live according to the word of God, because He is putting together a Christian church that in the end of this world, shall become the bride of His son Jesus who is the Lamb of God

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

Revelation 21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

With this comes a wonderful eternal never ending life with Jesus in heaven. Praise the Lord!! I'm ready!! Are You????
