Jews, Muslims, and Christians (I don't know who else) all believe in the same God, the God of Abraham. Yet they all have different beliefs. It's so confusing to pick a religion. I was a Christian until I converted to Islam without learning about it cause the Imam asked me if I want to say the Shahadah and I said I want to learn about Islam first and he asked if I want a box full of Islam things and I said yes and he said repeat after me...then he told me what I said and he said you are now a Muslim. Ok, wait a minute...I wanted to learn about it first. Sigh. I'm definitely not Christian because I don't believe that Jesus was God or the same as God as they say he is. I might believe he is a messenger but I'm still trying to find out. I'm stuck in between Judaism and believing that Jesus is a prophet. I crossed out Christianity, but not Islam...yet. I do not know enough about Islam to claim myself one. Either I'm a Jew or one who believes Jesus is a prophet. My head hurts.

Question to the Muslims. I was announced a Muslim by and Imam on the 14th of December, even though I said I wanted to learn more about it first before I become one. After he said I am a Muslim I thought, woah, hold your horses Carol you don't even know what they believe. So I am a Muslim who doesn't know what I believe yet until I get that box full of Islam things that the Imam promised me. What do you think of this?

The reason why the Imam called me over the phone was because I filled out a form on a website asking for information about Islam to be sent to my PO Box and I included my phone, and he called like 1 hour after I filled it out...

I am so in a religious battle within myself. I'm suffering, my head and heart hurts and I want to find the truth. I believe in one God, the God of Abraham.....................and His ten commandments. Do I have to brand myself, or could I just follow His commandments and live happily ever after.

In the end times, there will be lawlessness. That means that the Ten Commandments will be abused, ignored, and translated differently.
There will be many religions, and beliefs.
There was never any mention, by any Prophet, or Disciple that a named religion would save or create a savior.
You are not bound by mans ideas, or philosophies, nor should you feel pressured to retain one belief over another.
The only thing you should do is what your heart and mind believe to be the will of God, dependent on Gods words, and wisdom, and teachings.
Man can pervert and twist and concede to any belief he subscribes, but it is the Spirit and will of God to show us the truth, the light, and the way, so long as we stay open and non judgmental.
Do not place your faith in mans understanding, and God will speak you, as you understand.

I think you should remain Muslim but conduct some idnependent research and study of how you want to lead your life. Aside from the Quran and the basics of how to pray, I say, go ahead and mold a lifestyle that works well for you. Don't overburden yourself, just try to be a good person; believe in God and that Muhamad was God's messenger (not all the propaganda that ppl make up to shake your belief). Fast, give charity, increase your spirituality. Visit a rose garden, a mountain, a field, a lake, a river, the ocean and just observe the beauty of God's kingdom; this vast world. Let it all sink in. Maybe you could be a Sufi Muslim (mystic) they are very peaceful, serene, kind and devoted to God. Some poetry they enjoy is by Rumi and Rabia-al adawiya (sp?). Well, I hope everything goes well with you. Good luck and peace.

Yes, you can be free of religion and any beliefs....if you want to be free of God also.
I am Christian (I'll tell you that upfront). I don't believe in Islam because it is a faith based on works and earning your way into heaven. I don't see how Islam provides hope. For instance, you have to complete several (I think it was five) acts before you die...well, what if you die before you get 'em done? What if you convert late in life? What if you're on you death bed and decide to covert? If Allah lets you in heaven anyway...well...where is that fair?
Jesus said, "No one is good"....in fact, he said...ther is no way we will be able to approach the throne of God based on our own merit. God's standard is perfection. Therefore, God came down, as Jesus, and crossed that divide Himself.
Your question is confusing as it jumps around.
Check out the Jews for Jesus.

Islam Follows the Same religion as Abraham.
Because Abraham was neither Jew nor Christian (because he was before Moses and Jesus)
[3.67] Ibrahim was not a Jew nor a Christian but he was (an) upright (man), a Muslim, and he was not one of the polytheists.
so you're closest to Islam =)

Of course its ok to be free of the typical religion. You have come to a higher understanding of God and your surroundings.
As my husband and I, we have our own religion. We still respect other religions because they each have their own customs and ceromonies to show God that they do believe.
Like washing dishes, everyone does them different, but in the end they are all clean (or should be lol). The process of how to get their doesnt matter so much as the effort to get their.

Dharma or Religion is the basis of your Life. Without Dharma no one can exist or survive. Everything or Everyone is having a religion of its own. Say, the Gold has the Reigion or characteristic of not being tarnished. A snake has a venom, Sugar is sweet in taste. Analogously, everyone is having a religion. If you do not want to be in Religion, you will be destroyed. The Actual Religion that one has to follow is VISHWA NIRMALAA DHARMA (Universal Immaculate, Pure Religion) that's Sahaja Yoga. Sahaja Yoga is the ONLY WAY TO SAVE THE WORLD. Sahaja Yoga is the only way to EMANCIPATION, PROLIFIC WELFARE & PROTECTION OF ALL. This is the ONLY WAY TO SAFE, HEALTHY, PROSPEROUS, PEACEFUL, JOYOUS & DIVINE LIFE. WITHOUT SAHAJA YOGA, YOU CAN NOT SURVIVE NOW. THE WORLD IS IN TURMOIL AND SAHAJA YOGA IS THE SOLUTION TO ALL THE PROBLEMS.
MOREOVER, FOR ALL THESE BENEFITS AND BILLION MORE, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY. SAHAJA YOGA IS FREE OF CHARGE, AS YOU CAN NOT PAY FOR DIVINITY. TO KNOW MORE, YOU MUST GOTO WWW.SAHAJAYOGA.ORG
SAHAJA YOGA THE MAHAA YOGA, SAHAJA YOGA THE ACTUAL YOGA.

Free of religion yes.
Free of Christ no.
There is only one God.
Forget religion.
Christ is the path of salvation.
Christ is the truth of God's Word.
Christ is the life eternal.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Christ is the tree of life.
Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

First you need to become educated. Second you need to stop 'believing' in 'believing'. Why don't you try 'experiencing' the TRUTH!
You God does not exist! All you 'believers' are simply deluded and brain washed. Sheep being led to slaughter.
