i have dual citizenship with australia and uk. i have lived in uk for past 3yrs. i would absolutely NOT recommend settling here. the wages are relatively low and prices across the board are high. most of all the cities are hugely over crowed, housing is mostly flats or semi detached, where a house is built and split down the middle so only a regular wall separating u from ur neighbours. there's few places even in the country where u can go and have some space for yourself. i always am reminded that 5 rats in a good sized cage can live happily and die of old age, however 10 rats in that same cage will fight and kill each other til there is only one left. even in you home unless you can afford 1/2 million £'s for a freestanding one you never feel like you have a bit of space for your self. any yard you have will be communal or overlooked by all your neighbours, maybe i'm spoilt growing up in australia but to have a private yard, to be able to go up the mountain 20minutes walk and not be able to see a house is so precious when its gone. notice i haven't yet mentioned the weather but the main problem i find with the weather is the damp, in the bathroom kitchen everywhere mould and damp. that's my experience, the people the history are wonderful and unique but i'd recommend uk to visit not settle

I lived in the UK for 13 yrs and loved it, but many changes have talem place If you want to move AVOID big cities, choose a place next to a biggish town or a fairly quiet town. I loved England but this was years ago. I think they have inmigration problems and getting in is not that easy,. You should ask the British Embassy for requirements. I love Scotland much more than England, and Ireland, of course.
Have you considered New Zealand? Much better a choice

I live in the US and I would LOVE to live in London.
I just got back a short while ago and I had so much fun.
As for the rainy weather, it's perfect for my hair (dreadlocks) the humidity is perfect for fattening them up and better twisting.
Anyone wanna trade flats?
I'm trying to save money, get a work visa and hopefully marry a man that will make me a citizen or pass the citizen ship test. I hear, you get your accent in the mail 2 weeks later =D

I would not recommend UK. Very expensive to live, ridiculous cost of housing, total madness of PC and health and safety nuts. There is a lot to do if you're in the right area but can you afford to do any of it? I found Australia a much better quality of life. Asia is good but expensive if you want international schooling for kids.

I love the Uk. especially Swansea Wales. It is unique and quaint. If you want the city turn around. If you want the ocean, turn around again, and if you want the country side with cows and sheep turn yet again. There is something for everyone. I love the people there. They are so friendly. They start up a conversation with me the minute they hear my accent. They are very fascinating. The older adults can tell you the rich history in Wales. They are very beautiful people that never brag. If you compliment one of them they blush.
