Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines
Overview
Yahoo! Answers is an online community in which participants can ask and answer questions on a wide range of topics, from the serious to the irresistibly trivial. Yahoo! Answers strives to make the community a safe and enriching place by encouraging our members to conduct themselves with a high degree of integrity, decency, and respect. Your use of Yahoo! Answers is subject to these Community Guidelines. We reserve the right to modify these guidelines at any time.
Format
Yahoo! Answers is a place for people to ask and answer questions in order to share knowledge. As such, please keep your postings to a question and answer format, or they may be deleted. If you prefer to have discussions or chat with others, please use one of Yahoo!'s other community services, such as Yahoo! Groups.
Context
Some content may be more appropriate in certain contexts than others. For example, questions regarding women's health issues are entirely appropriate in the Women's Health category, but are inappropriate if addressed in a sexual or otherwise inappropriate context.
Age Restriction
Yahoo! is concerned about the safety and privacy of all its users, particularly children. For this reason, parents of children under the age of 13 who wish to allow their children access to the Service must create a Yahoo! Family Account. When you create a Yahoo! Family Account and add your child to the account, you certify that you are at least 18 years old and that you are the legal guardian of the child/children listed on the Yahoo! Family Account. By adding a child to your Yahoo! Family Account, you also give your child permission to access many of the Services including email, message boards, and instant messaging (among others). Please remember that the Service is designed to appeal to a broad audience. Accordingly, as the legal guardian, it is your responsibility to determine whether any of the Services and/or Content are appropriate for your child.
Response to Violations
Yahoo! does not edit the content of questions, answers, or comments in Yahoo! Answers. However, we reserve the right to remove content that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be inappropriate and/or in violation of the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines or the Yahoo! Terms of Service. Depending on the level of offense, you may risk deactivation of your Yahoo! ID and consequently everything associated with it, including email accounts, groups, posts, homepages, and profiles. If you are unsure whether your content is appropriate or consistent with these policies, please err on the side of caution and do not post it in Yahoo! Answers. Questions and Answers may not appear on all Yahoo! Answers sites.
Content & Usage
Yahoo! Answers is a place where people can easily share facts, opinions and personal experiences to help others. It is up to each member of Yahoo! Answers to maintain the integrity of the community's content. When posting content, please follow these rules:
YOU MAY NOT POST CONTENT (or links to content, including photos):

to exploit, solicit, or harm minors.
that is violent, racist, incendiary, or otherwise objectionable.
that are abusive, threatening, slanderous, or belligerent against any individual or groups of individuals for any reason.
that violates federal, state or local law.
that contains profane, obscene, vulgar or sexually explicit language.
that glorifies self-harm, suicide, anorexia, bulimia, or any other practice that is clearly unhealthy or harmful.
for commercial or advertising purposes, including classified ads.
to vent your frustrations, rant, make statements, or otherwise violate the question and answer format.
to post personal ads or your own or others' personal information.
that violates the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines or the Yahoo! Terms of Service in any manner.
MAINTAIN THE FORMAT: This is a Q&A community, so please keep postings to this format. Post questions in the form of a question, and do not post answers unless you are attempting to answer the question. Note that if a question is removed, the associated answers and comments are also removed.
NO CHATTING OR PERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS: You may meet friends or other interesting people on Yahoo! Answers with whom you'd like to engage in personal correspondence. If so, please use the chat option on your profile page, rather than use Yahoo! Answers itself. Questions that are chatty, or attempts to engage others in personal communications, will be removed. Some examples of questions that do not comply with the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines are below. These are just a few examples, and we reserve the right to change, remove, or add to the list at any time, without notice:
How are you?
Anyone want to chat?
What's your name?
How old are you?
Do you like my avatar?
What time is it?
Who here likes steak?
How many points do you have?
Who likes Britney Spears?
NO POINT-GAMING: You may not post content for the explicit purpose of gaining points, trading points, or soliciting others for points or otherwise "game" the Yahoo! Answers points system.
ONE PROFILE PER MEMBER: Please do not create more than one profile. Members who use different profiles to ask and answer their own questions risk having their accounts deactivated.
NO COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY: You may not post URLs for the purpose of directing commercial activity to a non-Yahoo! site.
NO REPEATED POSTINGS: You may not post similar or identical postings. This also applies if you are including the same commercial URL on all of your postings for the purpose of directing commercial activity to a non-Yahoo! site. Multiple identical postings, even if legitimate, may be considered spam.
USE ENGLISH ONLY: Please do not use other languages or symbols. Also, spelling and grammar count! Be sure to check your spelling and grammar, as content that is unreadable due to excessive typos may also be deleted.
CATEGORIZATION: Categorize your question in the appropriate category. Yahoo! Answers reserves the right to re-categorize or delete questions it determines to be categorized incorrectly.
REPORTING ABUSE: You may not use the Report Abuse link for purposes other than reporting a violation of the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines or the Yahoo! Terms of Service. You may not report abuse for posts that you personally disagree with, or by people you personally dislike.
NO HACKING: You may not promote or redirect traffic to a non-Yahoo! site, post links to sites that force the download of a virus, programs, or other content, or in any other way interfere with the operation of Yahoo! Answers.
NO PASSWORD TRADING: You may not post content with the intent of trading passwords, product decryption programs, or any other programs.
NO FRAUD: You may not falsely claim credentials or expertise that you do not possess, or impersonate another user.
RESPECT COPYRIGHT LAW: You may not post content that infringes the intellectual property, privacy or other rights of third parties.

While I am sure that I have annoyed a lot of people with some of my answers, I never got reported.

Some people deserve a "snippy" (or, if you perfer "naughty") answer becuase of the way their question is phrased. Some intentionally insult others beliefs or non-beliefs by asking loaded questions that have no meaning.

Then, of course, there are people like "man" who does nothing but annoys everyone else. If I could find a way to get a message to that person/bot, it would redefine the word rude.

Anyway, I generally try to stay inside the guidelines becuase I think that it is possible to disagree with a person without insulting the person.

As for offending minors, I think the worse word I have ever used here was butt. I do try to be careful about that.

PS: When I am nice, I am nice, when I am naughty, I am very nice.
