It sounds like they are playing. It is okay as long as the Westie isn't hurting your puppy. Good Luck

Your Westie is most likely trying to play with the Chihuahua. It is also a way of dominating the new pup. Since there is a significant difference in size, just make sure the play does not get too rough. Your new puppy will also tell the Westie Wonder when it is too much.

Congrats on your two dogs. They will both like having the company.

This is normal doggy play behaviour. At 1.5 years old your westie is still very young in terms of maturity levels. He just wants to play with the chi. Pawing is something that pups will do with their litter mates in order to achieve a play response from another pup. There's nothing wrong with it. If the chi is hurting from it, it will yelp and tell the westie that it's not happy. haha, also the other thing is that it might consider it as prey. Have you seen your westie paw at toys? Dogs will often paw at dead prey. Then again, I doubt it. Dogs will also paw at food or water bowls as well so it's usually just harmless behaviour.

its probably them play wrestling. your westie just might be too strong for the chauwaua who is obviously still a baby. so the westie might not realize that he is hurting his companion.

it's a natural terrier, so it's more agressive even when playing! train it to be more gentle...

That's o.k., as long as there's no blood.
