What post war planning???? There was none. The looting the day after Baghdad fell said it all.
Remember all the plastic explosives that disappeared????
It is safe to say that we have now recovered every bit of it, one IED at a time.

Two things come to mind. First was the loss of the iraqi police force. That hurt us, but I can't really lay that at the planners feet. The electrical infastructure. This I will lay at their feet. Bringing the iraqi grid up to modern(?) specs had cost us a lot of time. We were not prepared for that. There is really no excuse for not being ahead of the curve as this really wouldn't be some great state secret. Other than those two issues it's really going about as expected. Remember that the U.S. occupied Germany until 1954 and Japan til 1955.

beyond "mission accomplished" its been pretty much non-existent. I hope the new report kick starts some new policy...more for the sake of the Iraqis than anything else. Its gonna be a bloodbath 'til then.

Not the best, but far from being the worst.
Military operations seldom go the way they are planned.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.
