XP Professional x64 is a separate edition of Windows XP which has been compiled specifically for 64bit processors.

It is not free, so technically you cannot install it for free. Of course, I've also never seen it in a boxed package, so you may not be able to buy it either. I would assume at this point it would come preloaded on computers shipped with 64bit processors. I've also seen it in volume licensing agreements like my old employer used to have.

I believe you can download a 120 day trial version from Microsoft. It is based on Server 2003 and is a lot more stable and reliable than 32 bit XP. The downside is that there are not many security programs and firewalls that are compatible with it. Have a look on the Microsoft site.

Windows XP x64 is only for 64bit processors. You can only install and run it if you have a 64 bit processor. And I am sure that you can get a copy from http://www.thepiratebay.org/.

And you should probably have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP_x64
