oh crumbles.
amazed noone has answered you yet.
it is the most simple thing to make.
for apple, you can use tinned apples mixed with some sugar, cinammon and vanilla(add pears too if you want, or sultanas or rhubarb) or if using cooking apples then peel, chop and deseed and cook them down in a little butter, the vanilla, cinammon and a tiny bit of water, add the sugar when the apples are ready to go in to the tray.
taste the mix before you ad the crumble topping to make sure it is not too sour, add sugar or more vanilla or whatever else tyou think it needs(i actually like mine with just apples and sugar)
for the crumble topping you could cheat and buy a packet mix, probably cant get one in malaysia though. so you will need flour, fat(butter or margarine) and sugar. and also you can add oats or nuts to this topping and more cinammon if you want.
amounts are half the amount of fat to flour, and then half the amount of sugar to fat.
so for say 6-8 people you'll probably need around 400g flour, 200g butter and 100g sugar. you can add more sugar for sweetness and the amounts of mix you use depends on how thick you like your topping.
with your fingers mix the softened butter to the flour until you have it like breadcrumbs, then what i do is add the sugar (and spice at his stage) mix it all in and then make some lumps by squeezing bits of the mix in my hand, so when you eat it it has some texture to the topping.
place on top of the fruit mix, sprinkle some more sugar on top if you want and bake at around 160-180 degs for around 35-50 mins or until the top is golden and the fruit is bubbling up around the sides.
eat with vanilla ice cream or custard.
classic
for peach crumble you could cook the peaches a little first but not too much so they fall apart, it would be nice to add some apricots to this or/and some almonds to the topping
enjoy

Apple Crumble
Filling:
4 large Golden Delicious apples (about 3 pounds)
1/4 cup sugar
1 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Topping:
1 cup walnuts or pecans, roughly chopped
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch fine salt
8 tablespoons (1 stick) cold butter, cut into small pieces
Vanilla ice cream, for serving, optional
Position an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F.
Peel, core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch slices. Place apples in a large mixing bowl and toss with sugar, lemon juice, flour, and cinnamon. Pour into a lightly greased 9 by 13-inch baking dish, and spread out into an even layer. Set aside.
In another large bowl, mix together the nuts, flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the topping. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, gently work in the cold butter until pea-sized lumps are formed.
Top apples evenly with mixture and bake until apples are bubbly and topping is golden brown, about 45 minutes, rotating once halfway through cooking.
Serve warm or at room temperature with vanilla ice cream.
