It depends. Is it a boy or girl?
I got my 2 year old boy -
Little people Garage, Little people airport, little people fire station, little people, Thomas the tank engines, some postman pat toys.
That's some ideas? If it's a girl sorry i don't really have a clue. Dora the explorer toys??

Depends on the sex of the child in some instances. Fisher Price has some great toys that kids can play music on and ride just check the age ranger on the box.
They used to call them weebles, not sure if they still do, but there are doll houses and schools and trains etc . that little ones love to play with.
Little boys and some little girls love trucks, not the small match box cars, as they could get swallowed, but the bigger dump trucks etc.
Leapfrog has some great toys too.
Story books , children's cds, finger paints, playdough, stuffed animals, baby dolls, balls, they can play with but won't hurt them.
Toys like guitars that look like they play, my nephew wanted that when he was two.
A sled , a wagon, a tricycle or big wheel.
Things like wooden blocks so they can create stuff even if it's just knocking them down repeatedly.
The kids that age even enjoy boxes that gifts come in sometimes more than the toys. LOL.
Merry Christmas.

I can guarntee you that he/she will have fun with a FLASHLIGHT!
It will be a present to remember and a present that he/she will be able to have fun with on the way to bed too! Most parents spend hundreds of dollars/pounds/euros on presents that end up under the bed. Sometimes the kid has more fun with the box or wrapping! The flashlight is definately a present to get (along with other presents of cource). Remember (unspoiled) kids like the simplest things. Buy really funny things that make ure kid laugh not what everyone elce is buying, like big brand names. Another tip is to buy something ure kid will get a thrill from. Eg: "twister" or "operation". These games involve all the family.
Merry christmas to you and DONT spoil that kid!

any toy by leap frog. You can get a magnetic farm that goes on the fridge, or a learning train.
They like little figures (little people by fisher price) that they can manipulate.
Dinky cars.
