my wifes took the kids to a birthday party,on the way out the door she said dont forget to baste the chicken???????

Its the drippings that come off the chicken. they are in the bottom of the pan that the chicken is in. Be sure and put this over the chiken it will make the chicken moist and it will also make it taste real good.

To baste a chicken all you need to do is simply dip the juices from the pan and pour it over the chicken. Do this about 10 time and continue baking about every 15 minutes baste again until the chicken is done.

Ha ha!! Basting means to uncover it and pour the juices from the bottom of the pan over the chicken several times. Do this once every hour or so based on how long the chicken is cooking.
(hopefully she'll never know you had no idea what is was!!)

the juices that are at the bottom of the roasting tin are poured over the chiken and that is basting. The purpose is to keep the chicken moist.

this has two answers. 1) IF THE CHICKEN IS NOT IN THE OVEN. cover inbutter and roast. 2) IF THE CHICKEN IS ALREADY IN THE OVEN pour the juices from the roasting back over the chicken. Good luck

use a large spoon or ladle to scoop up the juices the chicken is cooking in and pour over it - to moisten the skin and enhance the flavour while it is cooking.
