If you believe

There are two ways to answer this question.

One is on the basis of dogma: to assert a religious teaching as true simply on the basis of faith -- i.e., without any justification based on reason and experience. This is also the method of skeptics who assert a priori that there is no afterlife, without bothering to ask empirical questions.

The other is on the basis of empiricism: to ask what evidence there might be for an afterlife, and how we can evaluate that evidence. This is the only approach that interests me.

If this is also the avenue you wish to take -- that is, if you are not satisfied to believe something simply because you're told to, but want to ascertain the real state of affairs by looking closely at observable phenomena (the only way to real knowledge, IMHO) -- then you should read a few books. I recommend:

"Life Before Life" by Jim Tucker (a summary of the work done by Dr Ian Stevenson at UVA on children with spontaneous past-life memory)

"Immortal Remains" by Steven Braude (an examination of a broad range of evidence)

"Parapsychology, Philosophy, and Spirituality" by David Ray Griffin (has chapters on all sorts of psi phenomena, and a review of evidence for survival of death)

1. "Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter. It will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and power will endure. It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and will reveal His loving kindness and bounty."

2. "As to the question whether the souls will recognize each other in the spiritual world: this fact is certain; for the Kingdom is the world of vision where all the concealed realities will become disclosed. How much more the well-known souls will become manifest. The mysteries of which man is heedless in this earthly world, those he will discover in the heavenly world, and there will he be informed of the secret of truth; how much more will he recognize or discover persons with whom he hath been associated. Undoubtedly, the holy souls who find a pure eye and are favored with insight will, in the kingdom of lights, be acquainted with all mysteries, and will seek the bounty of witnessing the reality of every great soul. Even they will manifestly behold the Beauty of God in that world."

3. "... a love that one may have entertained for any one will not be forgotten in the world of the Kingdom. Likewise, thou wilt not forget (there) the life that thou hast had in the material world."

No. By afterlife, you must mean a heaven or hell. My answer is no. If there is a heaven or hell, it exists here now. The afterlife concept is pushed as a carrot and stick approach to force religion. If religion stops using the afterlife as a means to convert, they have little to motivate their believers.

People who depend on religion to answer their questions are admiting to failed reason. It is disturbing they fail to know why it is wrong to kill, wrong to steal, wrong to covet, wrong to disrespect parents. The best they can do is recite from a bible. When pushed to explain, they admit they are acting on faith and do not know.

Where do you go when you die? You go no where, you stay right here.

Isn't it amazing that something so common as death (1 out of every 1 person will die) is so mysterious. Out of the billions who have lived on earth through the centuries, many hve gone on, and still we debate over what will happen next. I firmly believe in the Bible and that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that there is a hell and there is a heaven, and salvation is given through the sacrifice of Christ.

Of course. When we die we are taken to the West where our souls are judged on the scales of truth. If you are a person of love, you will live forever in the garden of the gods.

It's not true or false, it's based on faith and belief. If anyone answers this question "yes", they're destroying the concept that they must have faith to believe, and therefore are not truly religious.
