My Mum always get down at this time of year, but she looks forward to the 21st December more that Christmas because she knows that after that date the days start to get longer again! Once the days start getting lighter she starts to feel better.

I think Christmas and New Year are horribly miserable times. Suicide rates leap in January and February of a new year, and that is statistically proven.

I always think about the fact that mid-winter has passed, and it's only a few weeks to spring which is a glorious time of year.

If you've lost someone you love close to Christmas, then it will be a difficult time probably even more so than usual.

There are no easy answers. I have felt like sh*it at Christmas for years, and I'm 50 now, and still feel like **** around this time of year. Roll On Spring!!

Yes darling, I like so many others lost my mum 6 years ago and its her Birthday on 20th. It doesn't become any easier for me but I try to get on with things and not let it ruin Christmas.

I do remember her birthday and christmas and make it a positive one but I do get down at this time of year also because of the pressures to make it nice and the money I spend even though I dont go over budget every year toys are going up in price and that is very sad.
