It's actually a Swab from the mouth... the Saliva of which, is indicative of what is currently in your Blood Stream.

The testing shows that there is something that meets the required limit so then you are ordered to have a blood test to afirm the breath test.

Not to my knowledge, they usually just do a urine test, but that was 3 years ago.
