Sorry you are feeling bad. Yes, as you suspected, you should get help. It has gone too far. The thing is that you can feel so much better - maybe even in ways you couldn't suspect at the moment. Stay strong and take the following step. It takes courage but you have already taken the first step by asking this question!

Yes i think that you should see a psyhiatrist, if you have depression and have tried to take your life, and am cutting.
Cutting is not a small problem, by now you know that. You know that each time you start to cut, that the relief you are getting from it last less and less, so you are cutting more often. So i would not call that a small little habbit.
Going to Mental Health or a private psyhiatrist is what you need to do. They can help you figure out why you are so down, and can't concentrate. There is something that you need to get out, and you proably have bee stuffing it for a long time. It is not going to be a easy path, but it will be worth it in the end. Cause you can get feeling better in time. So please go and get some help from a psyhiatrist, or Mental Health.

yes you need someone you are reaching out and feel no one hears or understands you. the best thing is counseling and you must feel free to open up . try to do your best to say what your feeling and describe your thoughts .
in your down time go to a bookstore and browse around a little
i like boarders there you can read a little of a book and if you like it buy it. and while your hanging out you can have a cup of tea or coffee. and relax and feel good about yourself.
i used to find a book and read it in a park where the trees make me feel like im happy the air is clean crisp i can relax and sometimes just watch the animals and birds
if you ever saw me you would ? you! because i am a big nasty looking guy that no one wants to offend. ironic huh

i'm telling you, so see somesone because i was the same about 6 years ago, when i was 15. i'm still a little depressed. they put me on a mood stabilizer [depakote] which really helped. zoloft, trazodone to sleep better because i couldn't sleep, and klonapin, whih calmed me down because i was really nervous all the time. my cutting got really bad, i went to a a 'mental hospital'

and i'm older now, and with the medicataions, i really do feel better, things can get better...and after awhile you probably may not need them; i'm only on klonapin because i'm anxious. although i probably should be on my other meds because i was diagnososed with bipolar disorder. ..but not everyone is the same.

seriously talk to a psychiatrist, will end up likely feeling better

Yes, you need to seek a doctor RIGHT AWAY. Cutting is no joke and obvioulsy not the thing to do. There are reasons why you do it though and a doctor will be able to help you figure out why, and guide you in making better choices than cutting. They will be able to help you long-term, whereas on here, we can only give you temporary assistance. PLEASE, get help.

Seek the assistance of a psychiatrist in your area. It seems that you are depressed.... which is a very treatable illness. However, it will require the proper diagnosis that only a professional can provide.

a psychiatrist will try to prescribe medication for you - that is all they do these days - that may be helpful but you might have more luck going to see a psychologist. They try to get to the root of your problem and work it out.

good luck and it is good that you are trying to find the right help hang in there.
