Was recently Christmas shopping at Target and went into a toy aisle where Dora and Diego toys are. Within Minutes I realized my 2 1/2 year old daughter had everything. How do we make the transition to something else. She can already count to 20 in both English and Spanish (Guess that is a good thing)

My husband and I have been in the same boat. Our daughter just turned three, and for the past year everything has been Dora and Diego. I am also thrilled that she is learning Spanish. (When she wants to open something she always says "we have to say it in Spanish obre, say obre!"

Anyhow, if you have Noggin, let her watch that, and she should get interested in other shows. This is what I did for my daughter. Now, instead of my daughter being obsessed with just Dora and Diego, she is obsessed with Noggin.

It is a good thing for her to learn a 2nd language but if you were to stop now she would more than likely forget it all. Are there any other shows or toys that teach Spanish to children? My grandson likes the series as well but he also has other favorites. She will outgrow the show eventually but in the meantime I would allow her to enjoy it but limit her viewing. Does she like animal shows? Kids are fascinated but cats and dogs and chickens etc.

My daughter LOVES Dora...she is five. BUT I try not to have her watch it because I dont like the fact that the television is "commanding" her to do things...

"Say Map" ..."Say Map"...

later this turns into "buy stuff" ...."buy stuff"...

I also don't allow her to watch commercials.
