Hi Rooney!!
Selective breeding in the Bulldog for big heads and narrow hindquarters (pelvises), as prescribed by the Official Bulldog Standard, effectively means that Bulldog puppies with their big heads must pass through a narrow birth canal, which is the result of the *****'s narrow hindquarters. To add to this potential birth hazard, Bulldog bitches in general tend to have inadequate uterus contraction, which is needed to expel puppies during the birth process. The combination of these factors is the reason why purebred Bulldog bitches can very seldom give birth naturally and requires that caesareans be done as a rule rather than an exception. If the operation is performed properly, a Bulldog ***** can have several caesareans in her lifetime without any ill effect to her health or her fertility. It must be remembered however, that a caesarean, as with any other surgical procedure, involves a certain amount of risk to the ***** and to the puppies. Bulldog bitches that poses a higher than normal risk and requires special attention during caesareans, include old bitches, those with a history of heart problems and those with very big litters.

Stud fee for a top producing male $400-$500, ovulation testing $45 each test (you can need from 2-6 of these done), shipping the ***** to be bred $350 (health certificate & Brucellosis test is about $80), C-Section $800-$2000 (depending on the area, many vets charge depending on how many puppies there are), aftercare/dewclaws if the vet does it $40 per puppy, misc supplies (formula for when the ***** has no milk, towels, vitamins, antibiotics etc. $100 min.) Vaccines $40 (minimum) per puppy if the vet does them multiplied by 4 since they need a series of 4. In the case of this litter, we ended up with one puppy. Expenses totalled approximately $2,070. This is a minimum, as other vet visits come up when a puppy is sick/dies or if the mother is sick. Think you can make money or even break even? You do the math. Unless you can sell one puppy for $2,070, you cannot break even. If you have more puppies in the litter, you just have more expenses, so it is never possible to break even and it is not possible to make any money. It is a very expensive endeavor and can be very heartbreaking. All of this doesn't include the fact that you are up almost around the clock for 3 weeks making sure the mother is caring for the puppies properly (many times they do not and the breeder has to tube feed the puppies every 3 hours around the clock).

It really depends on the vet. We breed English Bulldogs and we pay $450 for a non-complicated c-section. If there were complications, it would be more. There is another vet right down the street from us and they charge $1500. You really need to find a good vet who know the breed. I would never take my dogs to a vet just because they are cheap. The bulldog breed has a lot of health problems. You need to look for one that know the breed and has seen a lot of them. Good Luck!
By the way, NEVER let you female try to have the puppies by herself. Their heads are way too big to fit and you run the chance of killing all the pups and your girl.

humorous adequate, however maximum folk commerce between calling Bulldogs British and English to advise an analogous element, there is easily an American breed referred to as an Olde English Bulldogge. to cite a Dorling Kindersley e book "This powerfully outfitted, medium length, mastiff-type canines is the consequences of yank breeders' tries to produce a typical photograph of the previous-kind English Bulldog, on an analogous time as removing breed weaknesses which incorporate respiration problems" So, in certainty, they technically are 2 diverse breeds because of the fact 'British' Bulldogs are basically familiar Bulldogs from Britain after which you have the Olde English Buldogge (which isn't acknowledged by utilising the yank or British Kennel club) it relatively is american, particularly sarcastically.

Hi ya as far as I know it's about £450 - £1000 it does vary that much between different breeds and vets the best thing to do is ring around your local vets and ask for a quote they should tell you as I did that when my chihuahua needed a c section and I was glad I did as the price was so varied.

Good luck

You should find out how much they cost from your vet, and if your willing to pay that amount go ahead. But I think you should consider getting a rescue dog if you want more dogs, because there are loads of dogs out there needing a home. I have two rescue dogs, and one used to be a show dog, so they're not all manky mutts :P

Sections run about $1500 and up. You will need to schedule it ahead of time with your Vet, if you don't and need to go to an emergency Vet, the price will be MUCH higher.

Pretty much all BDs have to be sectioned, do not think she can whelp on her own.

They can really vary from area to area in the US. I've seen anywhere from $500-$1000. And it can be more if your dog goes into labor at night and you have to take her to the emergency vet instead of your regular vet.

please please do not breed from her. They do need ceasarians but the cost is not the issue. IMO it is immoral to let her have pups knowing that you will be risking her life with a major operation in order to have those pups. Not only the ceasarian but she cannot rear them herself either. You have to keep her and them separate and put the pups onto her every hour then remove them again.
