I don't think that "god" is in line with believers, I think "religion" often is though.
The reason is that religion is a man-made creation. It started as a means to control the environment. Some of the very earliest religions would be centered around trying to make it rain, or fertile fields or whatever.
By the way, many early religions also believed that eating the body or drinking the blood of their leader (or of a strong lion) would give them the properties of that leader. Sound familiar?

I don't think that is true. I always put what God directs above my own wishes. For instance my mom is becoming a Buddhist, and as a Christian I do not think Buddhists will go to heaven since they reject Christ. Thus, I truthfully wish there could be a way my mom goes to heaven, because certainly I do not want my mom to go to hell, but I believe in the reality of God's word and I may not want it that way, but I just have to accept it. Its either that or I give up everything I believe. But that scripture rings true in my life "I will turn a son against his father, a daughter against her mother" or however it goes.

As in what? God wants peace, so do we. God wants love, so do we. God wants us to get along, we'd rather get along. At the end of the day stuff happens, and the devil is always putting up obstacles.

because they have been brainwashed to believe what they are saying and what they preach is only what works to their benefit. They would never preach something that the bible says which they don't understand. They use the bible as a weapon, a means to justify themselves as better than others. They quote what is convenient and if it's not convenient they make it up.

It may at first, but not after the believer realizes God's way is best.

I don't believe this is necessarily true. It should be the other way around. Believers should obey the leading of God.
