I do have faith is something better. I have faith that humanity will someday put down their weapons and help make the world a better place. I believe this because I see it everywhere.
Just because I don't believe in God doesn't mean I don't have hope for the future.

what has believing in god got to do with bringing a chld into the world.
i have to say, if I believed in god, i would probably not bring a child into the world. a god that takes children as young as a day old, three years old, 5 years old? that gives millions of children all over the world deseases, aids, lukemia. a god that allows for children, babies to be raped in war zones.
if i believed in god, i would never have a child.
what i do believe is that the world is an amazing place only becasue of the people that make it that way.
i want my child to have the choice about beliefs, sexuality, religion (if they want) - but i certainly wouldn't want a child to be born with a life already planned out for him.....
eg. born, christen, so now a christian, can't be gay cos he'd go to 'hell', instead of being apreciative of the things like the sun, moon, oxygen, gravity, dinosaurs, you have to pray only to this one god, that you've never seen, and only read a book about.
well, you know what, I've read a book called Harry Potter, I'm pretty sure he doesn't exist.

There are many reasons.
1) Survival of the human species.
2) They desire the joy of being a parent.
3) Failure to use birth control.
4) Birth control method was faulty.
5) Need more atheists in the world.
Take your pick.

To celebrate mankind's ability to procreate. To enjoy raising a family. To know that part of you will live on in your children. In my house, there is no self sacrificing for "a god" who watches your every move, every thought of every day. I will NOT have my child believing he is bad because he was born. There can be no evil thoughts in a baby. They live on primal instincts, and cannot process damnation and salvation. Its morally, psychologically, and ethically WRONG to teach your children that they have to be good only so they won't burn in a mythical hell. What the hell kind of moral is that? Teach children to be good, for GOODNESS sake, not for a "treat."

My daughter is less important to me or less loved by me or anyone else because I don't believe in the mystical magical imaginary invisible man? How does that make any sense?

The point is to pass on my genetic heritage, and to do something useful while I am here. Carl Sagan said, "If you want your life to have significance, do something significant." I am trying to teach people (such as yourself) how to think.

because you are in love with your partner. should we ban any non-Christians from having children just because they have a different belief system? How your ignorance shows.
