I have it really bad. But I have tried a few things that help. Try to cut the greasy and spicy foods. If you do eat these foods, eat a banana first. I read that it creates some sort of protective lining in your stomach. When I don't have a banana I take some pepto before I eat greasy foods. Never lay down after you eat. Good Luck!

acid production decreases around bed time. plus youre laying down so it is easier for it to come back up. id try either zantac or pepcid (not natural but theyre effective and have very few side effects, and if you just get the generic which are rantidine and famotidine, they are dirt cheap), talk to a pharmacist about it

There could be a number of reasons why it bothers you most in the evening - I guess would mostly be how and what you are eating. You need to make sure you are eating light meals that are low-fat - I wish you the best of luck!!!

A friend of mine has hiatus hernia and suffers from it a lot. He has learned to avoid certain foods.....mainly fatty foods....minced beef, sausages and spicy stuff. He finds a glass of cow's milk calms it down. He also takes antacid tablets like Rennies (UK).
Hope this helps.
Merry Christmas.
