It is a wood table, the legs are white. They are looking a little blah and I just want to freshen them up a little bit. Is sandpaper necessary or can I just give them a good cleaning and then paint them?

Sanding helps to slightly rough up the surface so the new paint will stick better. You do not have to sand.

There is a product available in paint stores and hardware stores. Wallpaper paste remover. You can use it to clean the painted surface, and it will make the old paint slightly tacky and sanding won't be necessary.

I'd clean them first, then just sandpaper lightly, you don't have to remove the paint, just rough it up a bit. Wipe with a damp cloth, then paint. A coat of clear polyurethane after and you should be good to go!!

P.S. I have painted furniture many, many times. I wouldn't worry about the polyurethane on many items, but you may want to use it since it's on the legs of a table that might get dinged often which is probably why you want to paint them in the first place!!

Clean well; then either lightly sandpaper or go over them with steel wool. The wood underneath should be slightly roughened up for the paint to adhere better.

I would say the cranberry colour for the table. It would fit great as it would match the walls, but wouldn't clash with the island counter or flooring. I hope I helped, by the way, I really like your colour scheme you already have.

Clean them first and then sand them a little with medium sandpaper and it will come out just fine.

You first sand them so they would be smooth and then get pain on it, and it works.
