Tylenol is a pain medication with the main ingredient of Acetaminophen. This may not be a drug which your body chemistry works with for pain management. Excedrin is a cocktail of the drugs Acetaminophen, Aspirin, and Caffeine. Your body may be more receptive to Aspirin as it is a more natural pain reliever. The Caffeine which is an accelerate (which has minor pain relieving properties of its own) also plays a role in the mix.
Overall the cause of the headache may very well play a part in which OTC drug works best for you.
