First of all you need to rephrase the question: "who do they think *is* the Messiah?"

We believe that Elijah the prophet will come and tell us that the Messiah is coming. The Messiah for us Jews is called "Mashiach Ben David" meaning the messiah son (descendent) of David.
(King David. Please refer to KingsA for the whole story but make sure the English version is indeed true to the facts. When translated from Hebrew, it sometimes loses something.

Religious Zionist Jews believe that with all the great things happening (- after 2000 years we finally have a state of Israel in our beloved homeland! How cool is that?!! It's such a miracle) we must be on the path to redemption, and the Messiah will be coming soon, g-d willing.
So keep your eyes open ;)

Strange how the Jews and Muslims don't believe Jesus is the Messiah. When he has done so many miracles. I wonder what they expect the Messiah to be like. Fifty feet tall with fire coming from his nostrils. I don't think they would accept anyone as the Messiah, if not Jesus.

The Bible says about the Messiah "and nation shall not lift sword against nation nor shall they learn war anymore" (Isaiah 2:4, and Micah 4:3) and for some strange reason Jews don't think that that happened yet.
Hopefully, the Messiah will come soon.

They do not believe the Messiah has come yet. They are still waiting and will continue to wait until Christ's second coming when they will fall to their knees and beg for his forgiveness because they did not believe.

They are still waiting, but I would guess by the high percentage of Jewish atheists that some people have forgotten it altogether.
