if a sentencing date was set, they are beyond the plea bargaining stage. the person already voluntarily told the court they were guilty, which is the only way to not get a trial. now all that remains is the judge doling out the sentence for the crime. there won't be any deals at this point.

It can work both ways. In the state of Georgia, and in many states, the defendant can go to trial, be found guilty and remain free on bond until the date of sentencing. Sometimes the judge sentences a person immediately after being found guilty, and sometimes it can happen much later. The majority of the time, in plea agreements, the sentence is already discussed, so the defendant pleads guilty and the sentence is immediately imposed.

Yes it does cause otherwise there would of been a trial
