Did you see those documentaries on Discovery or National Geographic? There it's proved the fact that it is fiction. In the Bible we are warned that things like this will happen.
"Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one that denies the Father and the Son." - 1John 2:22
“Then if anyone says to YOU, ‘Look! Here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. Look! I have forewarned YOU. Therefore, if people say to YOU, ‘Look! He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; ‘Look! He is in the inner chambers,’ do not believe it." - Matthew 24:23-26

Opus Dei- True
Church offended- True
Jesus married- Probably True
Da Vinci Code- Mostly True
Jesus was an Essene Jew living in what we believe was the city of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were located. In Qumran, as in other Essene communities of the day two things were required if you were to live there. One, you had to be married by 25 I believe, and Two you had to have children by 30.
The Cult of Mary Magdalene, also known as the Black Madonna, began in Provencal France. Also known as an "Isian Cult" it followed a dual-natured belief that the Madonna was 'more than just a prostitute'..... and to many it was a religion that was more about Isis/ Madonna than anything else. According to that belief, widely believed by many for centuries, the Madonna arrived in Provencal France with TWO CHILDREN and a male escort. Some say this escort was Timothy or Thomas (some suggest that Jesus lived and escaped)
The only piece of the Da Vinci Code that is not backed up by history is the Priory of Sion. Everything else, including the Knights Templar, is a part of history albeit shrouded in the mists of time to be sure.
The Knights Templar found something, and it rocked the Vaticans world whatever it was. Those first eleven "Poor Knights of Christ" became the founders of the single most powerful group on the planet within less than a decade of returning from the Holy Lands. Their 'arrest' on Friday October 13th 1307 is STILL remembered as the most unlucky day.

Jeses WAS married. Because he WAS Jewish, to be able to attain the rank that he did, he HAD to be married. Sometimes Christians are so closed minded... Whether or not he had a child is irrelevent, although I am inclined to believe that its possible.
I agree with a former Answerer though, it is widely known as documented FACT that the Knights Templar did indeed find something of value to the Vatican. Enough so that they attained power. What else could possibly cause the sudden rise, and fall, of a group of poor soldiers?
There has always been a scandal from the very beginning when it comes to women and the Vatican. The WHOLE WORLD (or at least a very large chunk of it) believed that women were to be worshipped equally if not more so than men. Primarily for the sole fact that women give birth. It is a miraculous event in all ages. It is also widely known that many pieces are missing from the Bible... why would anyone choose to fight wars over different copies/versions of an incomplete text? EVERYBODY knows about the Pope's private study and the Vatican's extensive secrecy on its libraries.
It is FACT that the Vatican has lied, cheated, stolen, murdered, and tortured people for centuries.... my only consolation is that if Dan Brown was right, he'd prolly be dead by a Vatican Assassin.

It is mostly baloney. The Church is offended that people are so ignorant of history that they actually think the Da Vinci Code could be true. It isn't the central idea of the novel that is offensive (i.e. Jesus married with children) - it is the presentation of fiction as fact, in the background of the story, that is offensive.
Opus Dei is an organization of Catholic laity (i.e. non-clergy) who agree to abide by a higher standard of daily Christian practice.

It's bits-and-pieces true. Maybe. Maybe not. It's a very shaky foundation built on a lot of folklore and conjecture.
The real Opus Dei responded to the novel here, along with an explanation of who they really are and what they really do: http://www.opusdei.org/art.php?w=32&p=7017

If it says the TRUTH- thanks Brown! At least we know more about our religion. ( But I know it's fiction!) First, why 'twas categorized FICTION.... aside from names/ characters. Because of his very good book, some fiction are misinterpreted as facts. Brown was not a scholar.
If its TRUE- the Church is offended because they don't want to tell
the secret they're hiding for centuries
If its FALSE- they're really offended because he's destroying
Christ's name
OPUS DEI- an Catholic Organization that have corporal
mortification and wearing of cilice. Have many
issues about their activites.

It's a BOOK, the author said it just a book; the facts don't jive with history, or the Bible. Women really have never been worshipped in that way, except for some few goddesses who were inferior to a male god.
BTW the book is much better than that awful movie.

Jesus was not married. I don't understand how people think this book is not fiction.................
Every response I have seen by the Catholic Church was not a big deal.
Every response by Opus Dei members was not a big deal. It seems they agreed with logic that it was a work of fiction, however they understand sheep instinct of people as well.
Opus Dei is a private catholic group.

Everyone is talking about the Vatican like it is some kind of authority. I agree it lies, does cover-ups, cloak and dagger BS, it's not to be considered an authority on anything concerning Jesus Christ. That book is a work of fiction from beginning to end. The concept and premise it is written on is ludicrous.

Jesus was a Rabbi. Rabbis were required to marry, therefore the odds are good that Jesus was married. The Bible does suggest very strongly that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene--he speaks and acts with her as ONLY a Jewish husband would.
Opus Dei are not the evil people depicted in the movie or book, but they are controversial.
