To me it is all a bunch of hog wash.. religion makes people give away there own personal power and belief in self. It defaces us. It also tries to make people afraid to make mistakes. When you have the opportunity to travel the world- you see that Christianity is not mainstream. It is prevalent in only 2% of other countries. Religion is a cult.it is ok to use it as a crutch to lean on for support at times but it is like playing with fire.most people get hooked on it and rely on it.. living by what something reads that they should live by. It is sad really. AND most people live this way in this era.. and do not question the truth/fact about it.. and will defend it even without factual truth to back it up.. they sound so lame when they do becasue most people cannot even make sense of it.and yet they remain heated. Narrowminded actually. Loss of self and individuality.Ruled by what the governmanet.. actually the kings ofwa long time ago told the priests to say to the peasants 4 hard work.

I wish I knew. You see it all the time in this forum; the usual response to such a question is a biblical quote, but the argument is circular since it is the bible that is being quiestioned. A lot of people simply do not know how to think (it is an acquired skill), or lack the energy or intellectual horsepower to do so.

people like to rely on faith as an excuse. This way when they make a bad decision they can blame it on god rather than themselves. I agree with you. But you'll never be able to change their minds. They are so self centered that they would believe that god resurrected satan to be hius servant. I think religion is a waste of time. there is practically no real evidence of any god existing. I dont see no figure in the sky. Can they prove it. Off course not. Thats why they walk around talking of faith. However i do believe in forms of enlightenment. I dont believe in god or religious. Just spiritualism. What i just said about gods would make me less spiritual than people would think. But i also think gods and whatnot are bull $hit. Well you have a good day. Hope fully there isn't a god, becuase we both will go to hell.

Christianity is a choice one makes. So how then dose it take away your individuality. There are many different denominations who interpret the bible differently and almost everybody views God differently. Christianity first rose from Christ who, if you read the bible was not well liked by the kings or the priests. They even had him crucified. And I agree that many Christians are so without factual truth. Good for them they have faith. I myself have been healed by Christ and seen things to make me believe and can even give you factual proof why I believe and if you try to debate it with me I could tie you in knots and run you in circles. Please do not assume all Christians do not know the bible and are just mindless followers. Everyone has at some point questioned their faith even if they deny it, including me. But each time god has pulled me through it and I think him for that. As for proof that he exists? No one can prove it for sure but don't forget the greatest minds in the world still can't prove he doesn't. Please read the bible my friend and learn what it is you should know.

I'll pray for you.

You have been on this site long enough to have seen this question in all its myriad forms answered. Why the vendetta? Your question reveals an arrogance that your opinion of Christianity as hogwash holds validity against thousands of years of scrutiny and billions of believers. Christianity and the tenets of its faith such as the Bible has withstood more scrutiny and proofs by the preponderance of evidences and analysis by some of the greatest minds to have been birthed by man , i.e. Einstein, Issac Newton to name a few recent brillant people who believed in the God of the Christians and the sources of the Bible.
If you were honestly seeking an answer there many books availible that have answered such assertions. Intelligent minds know that the quips generally delivered here could never answer such a question -- visit a library and read a book other than one that justifies your predisposed beliefs.

Or I would be happy to go in depth and answer real questions of your doubt if you just email me and let me know your evidence procedure, whatever it is I will use that to bring light to the question. Peace too you/

ok. Regarding me I was raised in an atheist family ,i dont trust blindly christianity . I even dont go to church . But I found the truth in the Bible as reading it home . I trust the Bible becouse , i was looking for answers not becouse I didnt questioned it . As a former atheist I was teached to ask answers and not to trust untilll I get the true answers.Old prophecies from Old Testament got fullfilled with accuracy in the new Testament .

The chance of any one man fulfilling just eight prophecies has been calculated by Peter W. Stoner in Science Speaks at 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000 -- yet 60 major Old Testament prophecies, having 270 ramifications were fulfilled by the life of Jesus. An example of the precisely fulfilled prophecies include the place of His birth, Bethlehem (prophesied in Micah 5:2, fulfilled in Luke 2:4-7); that He would be born of a virgin (prophesied in Isaiah 4:17, fulfilled in Luke 1:26-31); that He would be despised and rejected by Jews (prophesied in Isaiah 53:3, fulfilled in John 1:1, Luke 23:18); that He would be betrayed by a friend (Judas) for thirty pieces of silver cast on the floor of the Temple and used to buy a potter's field (prophesied in Zechariah 11:11-13, fulfilled in Matthew 27:3-10).

Fulfilled prophecy extends to the present day -- consider the people of Israel. In Genesis 12:2,3 and 13:13-15, God promised Abraham a great nation, a great name and a land that will belong to his descendants forever and through Abraham, that all families of the earth will be blessed. At the time, Abraham was 75 years old and his wife was barren. The prophecy was fulfilled when Abraham was 90 years old (Genesis 21:2) when his wife Sarah miraculously bore him a son. Over the next several hundred years, the nation promised to Abraham appeared (Exodus 1:7).
Later, through Moses (Deut. 28-33), God warned Israel that He will use other nations to remove them from their land if they are unfaithful to Him. He predicted that they would eventually be scattered across the whole earth and would find no rest. He also promised to bring them back to their land. Israel was unfaithful. King Nebuchadnezzar took people captive to Babylon, then burned the city and the Temple. God then allowed the Israelites to return to the land (Ezra 1). Later, in AD 70, Titus the Roman also destroyed the city of Jerusalem, scattering the people. In AD 1948, Israel became a nation and the people began to return to their homeland. They have since survived several conflicts. We think of the United States as having a long history, yet it has been in existence for only 200 years. Israel has been a people for more than 4,000 years.

2 Peter 1:20-21 describes how Bible prophecy can be so accurate: "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."

It is the "Lemming Effect".
Something I like to call LDS or "Lemming Dysfunctional Syndrome". (Kind of a double-entendre isn't it?)

Nobody likes to be 'different' and some people take that general human condition and elevate it to a whole new level.

It is not that they do not question, they are afraid to not be singled out for doing so. They accept it without question because they have to be part of the group around them and even the THOUGHT of questioning it makes them uncomfortable.

What a silly, broad statement. You have made a huge assumption. I did examine Chrisitanity. I did look up the history and foundations of the other major religions. I did my homework. And I've placed my bet (soul!) on Biblical Christianity. With what, exactly, do you disagree? What part of Jesus' messages did you think was hogwash? The "love your neighbor" the "be kind" the give to the poor?

I appreciate your thinking and more interest in using your knowledge. All the explaination and questian you have asked are good. I wonder how could you only use the knowledge that provides worldly informations and issues.

Christianity has answer to all your question....... I said all "your questions" but only thing your intellectual mind should accept the answers. The fall of the first man happend throught he promise of knowledge, he tried to see God through the knowledge Satan gave him to questian and doubt God to disobay God's first Command.

it appeared good to him to ask that question and the suggestion Satan gave but the result is "he went astray" the answer satan gave him/her in the book of Genesis appeared contradict and and proved true to him so he selected to eat that fruit and disobay God.

but the core of the command and the result of the disobedience is different in understanding.

please don't use your knowledge to see God. because all the knowledge you possess gives you pride and you live as you like. When the end comes you will regret of all your valuable knowledge and thinkings that provoked many to appreciate you went in to vain.

I really like your question. I think you are a beautiful person living with your young age that stimulates you think differently. but think in such a way that Pleases God.

Try reading the Bible

God bless you

Sorry if my English is not good and hard to understand. I am not a English speaker.

Some narrow minded people still worship Idols that have women convinced they must kill their own unborn children. Some are hooked believing there is nothing wrong with killing an innocent child. They even work hard keeping it a law to kill innocent lives.
God hears their screams and will avenge them..

right and wrong. Many people believe it, but not without questioning it. Personally I have questioned it a great deal, but have always found it to be truthful and real. You need to look at your first line in details "TO ME it is a...." That is what we call personal opinion, and I have as much right to mine as you do to yours.
