Semantics. What is religion? What is spirituality? This is like asking "is love the opposite of like?"

Religion is a series of beliefs and practices that center around the recognition of a specific deity. Spirituality is a series of practices and beliefs that center around the recognition of a specific anthropological model, which is derived from the recognition of a specific deity.

Folks just like to contrast empty ritual (misidentified as 'religion') with an emotional response (misidentified as 'spirituality').

Yes. Religion is a hollow bunch of actions with no real results. Spirituality is obedience to the Word of God that leads to a personal relationship with Him. Spiritual people also seem to have a positive effect on the world around them.

>>"Spirituality is obedience to the Word of God that leads to a personal relationship with Him. Spiritual people also seem to have a positive effect on the world around them. "<<

... you do realize that people can be spiritual, have a personal relationship with their deity (God as you know it or not) and have a positive (or negative) effect without "the word".

Religion is a social construct.

Spirituality is a relationship with your deity and/or understanding of the metaphysical world and/or the afterlife.
