When Belly Dancing, would it be appropriate to stick coal in ones belly button or MUST it be a precious gem?

belly dance is seductive Middle-Eastern dance performed by women which is characterized by hip swaying and contracting of the stomach muscles. in reply to your question I'm pleased to advise you that coal is belly's traditional symbol.

Some of the real belly dancers I have seen in Algeria had enough room under the belly flaps to hold a wardrobe, not a pretty sight..

It depends on the type of coal. Anthracite is ok but bituminous is a definite fashion faux pas.

You can stick there whatever you want. but why coal? for the color contrast?
