my son as a baby used too shake his leg up and down in his bouncy seat, this made him rock back and forth(we never had too buy batteries for his swings or bouncers he did it him self). but now he is 2 and a half now he sits in chairs and bounces off the back like doing situps and lays in bed and when it is time for bed and throws his head up and down bouncing. has anyone heard of this and why is he doing it still. is he comforting himself.

I don't remember if our friend's daughter did this when she was still in her swing or later on in bed or not, but she was constantly bouncing off the back of the couch when she was in her toddler/preschool years. Oddly enough, even though she had stopped, her little sister started doing the same thing. We could never quite figure out why she did it.
