Well, for an answer if an ID is required, then, may I ask, why do you wear trousers ? They want to know you, because sexes are divided into many segments. HE, SHE AND ................ !

I think it has to do more with regional customs of modesty than anything.

You don't see many American men getting overly excited about a woman's hair. Just as there are some places in the world where a woman's bare chest isn't necessarily sexual.

i.e. indigenous people of the Phillippines until the 1900s. Saw a picture of a girl topless in a skirt with a big smile on her face. No sense of shame. (culture).

I think that in the Middle East, a woman's hair was probably more ****** than other places.

to answer the question I would say it is an oppressive practice. people should be allowed to wear whatever they want. If they chose to wear these things then fine. But many women are forced which is obviously wrong.
