I was wondering how to install a standard 3 piece crank set for a bmx bike.

From what I've gathered from local bike shops (since I had to get mine replaced after someone crushed it with their car) there are two major parts concerned.

First, there's the crank itself which includes the 3 gears attached to one arm, and a separate arm.

Second, there's a piece called the "bottom bracket" which attaches the lone arm from one side of the bike frame through the bottom of the frame to the crank.

So it's basically three pieces you'll need to connect.
