The multiple adaptors come only in 300mA. What type of stores carry the right type of adaptor. There used to be Radio Shack but they seem to all be gone.

It's better to go up than down.

If your device actually requires 600mA, a 500mA adapter will not power it properly. The voltage will drop below 12V.

The current (amps) is dependent on the device itself and the voltage supplied. Radio Shack (when you find one) has a 1000mA 12V adapter. Get that one. Your device will draw only the amount of current it requires (not the full 1000mA).

Also make sure the plug fits your device and the polarity can be set the same (pos/neg on the contacts).

That really depends on the device. If it requires 600mA, presumably it won't work with less - but you can email the company's tech support and ask (though chances are they'll just recite the product specs)

no you cannot use this one if you do you risk damaging your unit
you can get custom made ones through dick smith electronics both ready made or in kit form if yur realy nice to one of the sales guys they might put one together for you for a small fee otherwise go to jaycar electronics they are in the phone book just about everywhere

Probably not. That "wall wart" will not deliver enough current at only 500 milliamps.
