Whether we call Him God, Jehovah, Allah or whatever we are talking about the same Creator right? So why do we fight over His name? He is Good, He is King and We all (supposedly) believe in the same essentiall elements of his teachings. Why quibble over fine details that only give us more to argue about? Cant we just accept people as they are and respect thier differences and opinions and styles of worship. I have MY beliefs but to hate some one else because they have a different name over thie door of thier house of worship or because they have another opinion? Isn't Love and Goodwill toward our Neihbors the core of most religons?

I hear what every one is saying but what I want to know is WHY ARE WE FIGHTING?
I am called by about 20 different variats of my name and about twice as many nic names and endearments. But they are all the same, I am being addressed. That name means "me" to whomever is speaking it.
Dont the Jewish people have like a 1000 names for Him?
Again, Isn't the basis for almosr ALL religons Love toward your fellow man and Above all our Everloving Father/Creator?"

The term "Allah" simply means "the [one] god", implying a single Almighty deity reminiscent of the Judeo-Christian "Yahweh" / "Jehovah". However, it is significant that "Allah" is clearly NOT a personal name, while the Hebrew Tetragrammaton clearly *IS* a personal name for Almighty God.

It's not exactly wrong to call the Almighty by the impersonal "God", just as it's not wrong to call one's offspring "Child". Faithful men of the Holy Scriptures used both "God" and a form of "Jehovah" when they referred to and addressed the Almighty. However, the term "Allah" seems intended specifically to reject Judeo-Christian spiritual heritage.

If we want a familiar and close relationship, it makes sense to use the personal name of someone we love. The Scriptures encourage us to use God's personal name.

The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) does seem to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.

The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord”, especially if you speak Hebrew. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".

(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth

(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them

According to the Bible His name is Jehovah. But Islam calls Him Allah. I would just like to know when He changed His name.

There's a major difference when it comes to Christianity. Christians (in name or fundamentalist) believe that the personage of Jesus is God himself; therefore, his name is Jesus.

I don't believe Jesus is God, so I now take myself out of the argument.

So if I call you Fred, even if I know your real name, won't offend you.

So calling you Fred, after you've told me 7000 times your name is _______. won't offend you.

What if Fred is the worse person you know?

What if Fred is responsible for telling lies about you?

What if Fred wants to be you?

or

Instead of calling you by your name, I called you "WOMAN", and to show you that I respect your name I capitalize the word.

Every time you received a letter from me, it's address:

Dear WOMAN,

WOMAN is my only friend.

Why didn't you answer me, WOMAN?

--------

What kind of relationship could we have??
