My kitty is having the same problem. She is 9 months old and the blood is on the outside of the stool, not mixed in it. She was just checked for worms and that's not the problem. She is an indoor kitty and the other kitty I have (5 months) is fine.

I don't know what it could be since the vet said she doesn't have worms. I'll be interested to hear what others think.

This isn't something you should just forget about, it could be serious, but don't worry just yet......you should take your cat to a vet very soon. having blood in her poo is not normal and should be treated right. Yes, she may be on heat but, blood in the poo does not normally occur when a cat is on heat. You cold also take a stool sample when you go to the vet. It could be maybe constipation or a problem with the bowels.

Hope it isn't so serious

Hi Winn_Dawn.

As everyone here has said you should get her checked by the vet. HOWEVER, my 9 month old kitten (fully wormed, parasite free and never been outside) gets blood mixed in with her faeces whenever she is on heat. (Her heat cycles started around about the 6 month mark) The act of "straining" to pass from one orifice squeezes blood from the other. Hope that makes sense without being too gross!!

I had the same problem with one of my kittens. The vet said it was probably worms and it cleared up immediately after treatment. Like everyone else has advised, best to get her checked out to be on the safe side. Good luck.

The best bet would be to have the kitten checked out by a vet.

That way, you would have a known diagnosis, which would result in quicker treatment for your kitten, and would also put your mind at rest.

TAKE HER TO THE VET. They will want to know if the blood was bright or dark (fresh or old) etc. It may be something simple like constipation but could be more serious. Please make an appointment to get her checked out asap as only your vet can properly deal with this.Good luck to you & your kitty

Worms can cause blood in the stool. If she is free of parasites, check to see if she is eating dead birds etc from outdoors, as they could be carrying other diseases that could affect your cat.

Taking a sick animal to the vet is always a good idea.
