not sure if I believe that "allah" means God.

Could be that "allah" is a generic word that means "the diety".
But this word existed in pagan arabian countries before the rise of Islam.
Mohammad's father had an Arabic name that meant "servant of Allah". So, not sure what that means. I know Mohammed's father died before Mohammed was born. And that Mohammed family were pagans.

Anyway, another possibility is the "moon god" theory. Don't know.

But I think the ideas of Allah and the God of the Bible are different.

Allah is an absolute unity according to Muslim teachings.

However, there is a name for God in the Judeo-Christian belief. El Echad--the one God. Echad means--composite unity according to many Christian scholars (because the Hebrew word "Yachid" means absolute unity).

Anyway, Jesus also used this word "Echad" when he said that a man and a woman would get married and become one flesh.

So we Christians believe in the composite unity of Yahweh.

And Muslims believe in the absolute unity of Allah.

We Christians believe that we can not get to Heaven based on our good works, but only by faith. (Because Abraham was made righteous before God because of his faith and not because of his adherence to religion or even Mosaic law--that came much later). and by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Muslims believe they will get to Heaven because of good works. 51% good/49% bad---Heaven.

Christians know we can go to Heaven based on Jesus' promise in John 3:16.

Muslims aren't sure if they will or not.

No, not the same god.
