My grandfathers name is teodor he moved to uk just after the war, his fathers name was john, and he and 2 brothers and 2 sisters anna and maria, i know my great grandfather went to newyork to find work abt 1915/1930, where he joined his brother basil stadnyk, i believe he was killed in 1950/60 in newyork, anyone with info or any relatives out there pls get in touch!!!

immigrated over lots of the centuries.and decades..The
thing is in about around and before the turn of the century
many Euopeans within Polish descendent immigrated
through out to America.When they came "off the boat" Many
of them had very difficult long names.Then had to be translated by their transportation in English.Thus many Polish names were
very much longer in origin.Basically the "dock stations"and
themselves likewise had to shorten the original last name..
Stadnyk can very well be Stadnik ,Stadinikalovogozcly (only example) Your ancestors may have had to shorten or they are "newer"..As far as I know a ve extremely close
friend of mine really has no "true "Maiden name.
For her r"real" ancestors name was shortened in just the way I described formerly.So...Good Luck
