Interesting question. This is one of the reason's that Pascal's Wager is unsound -- the almost unlimited unstated assumptions. For example, the assumption that we even know what god wants us to do, that god will judge us in the after-life, and even that there is a heaven or hell.

And your idea is not so far-fetched if you consider the existence of a god that allows evil to happen all the time. It would not be out of character for such a god to be cruel, play tricks, or simply pay no attention.

'The Dude' man you have got it alllllll wronggggg. Jesus died for our sins we are saved this message was from God through Jesus. We all die and rest in peace (rest in peace is to sleep forever). Jesus, was an honest man, what part of Jesus makes you think you will go to hell. Hell is a state of mind there is no such place that you will be living in fire. Hell is a place where your emotions (anxious, hard of breathing) let you know that you have done something wrong "You" stop to think at your wrong doings and make changes in your life not to let them happen again.

wonder if they have it all right? I'm not saying anyone has it right. but believing in Jesus does make sense. I think the idea that going to hell for believing in Jesus sounds pretty dumb. But that's only my opinion.

Based on what? Jesus taught pacifism (except as far as commercializing the temple is concerned... don't mess with Jesus! lol) and loving your neighbor. Why go to Hell for that?
