A few thoughts come to my mind:
1. Do an olive oil cleanse – When you wake, do not eat or drink ANYTHING before you drink a mixture of 5 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil and 5 Tablespoons of lemon juice. Do not eat or drink ANYTHING for at least one hour. For me, it's best to drink water before I eat. But, either is okay. You do this for 3 mornings straight. It is a very intense liver cleanse. So, don't do more than 3 days at a time. It also helps people to go to the bathroom. So, be close to a toilet.
2. A definite standby that works for most people is fruit. Bananas and watermellon are good.
3. Gluten is often a food that contributes to constipation. It's a protein that is found in vaying degrees in certain foods. Wheat is one food with a very high gluten content. So, if constipation is a common experience, you might want to avoid wheat.
4. Water helps m any people.
5. Iodine from seaweed sometimes helps. I use kombu seaweed powder as a spice in my soups. It improves the flavor of food in a natural and healthy way but, acts like MSG.
6. Protein also helps. You can do this in veretable or meat form.

If you really want to guarantee a BM, you can combine the suggestions, ie: do an olive oil cleanse, wait 1+ hours, then drink a quart of water, follwed by some fruit in cereal like oatmeal. Use juice instead of milk in the oatmeal (milk is sometimes contipating.)
Good luck.

Eat high fiber foods... oatmeal is a good choice. Eat a lot of veggies and fruits. Drink a lot of water.

Constipation is caused by an improper diet, and that's a lifelong condition that isn't going to change in a couple of days... but you can start on a lifetime of proper eating immediately and you'll see results.

As for medication... DON'T take a laxative! But if you desire a pill, take a stool softener.

ex-lax take two with a full glass of water. you will be going in no time. if that doesn't work load up on as much fiber as possible this week. and to stop this from happening in the future remember you need at least 6% of fiber in your diet on a daily basis

Eat something with whole wheat, or take fiber pills, but don't overdo it. Eat fruits that are high in fiber like pineapple, apple, and anything with pulp.
