Actually, I am not asking this. I am telling this :) God does elect people to salvation (2 Thess. 2:13). And if raise the objection, "that's not fair," I suggest you read Romans 9. If anyone would like to have a discussion on this, PLEASE email me at nathan_duffey@yahoo.com

I would love to have an email debate over the topic of Calvinism :)

Thessalonians says it, God didn't say it ... so?

And if this isn't a question, then you are in violation, my friend.

God said He did, so we must take Him at His word. However, He also said He is willing that none should perish. In addition, there is a verse in the New Testament which states that the elect were chosen "according to the foreknowledge of God." The Bible also teaches that, though there is definitely a group called "the elect," it is possible to lose your salvation." There are many spiritual mysteries in the Bible that we will never fully understand until we get to heaven--or until heaven comes to us! And it is the better part of wisdom for us to realize that--rather than polarizing ourselves behind one or another all-or-nothing doctrine by believing that certain verses mean what we want them to mean and ignoring the ones that seem to say otherwise.

If you accept the Word of God at all, you must accept ALL of it--not only your favorite verses! While it may be difficult to reconcile some of these seemingly contradictory ideas, is there really any reason why any of us should presume to think that we have the wisdom to fully understand God and His ways? I don't think so! None of us has a monopoly on the truth! We are only human, we are trusting Christ for our salvation, and we simply must leave the tough questions to God--while believing EVERYTHING He has told us!

another ism? who said god was a respector of persons anyway?
was it calvin? luther? paul? jesus?
unless god is registered to vote, who would he elect anyway? as far as i know, no one is running for office! at least not for one in heaven! so don't start now. you'll get where you are supposed to go without having to campaign for some unknown office in heaven.

im sure he has say in it of course, you know since he is the creator of pretty much everything, maybe sometimes he talks with his son about it, maybe the apostles, who knows. Im sure he is dedicated enough, if he put so much time into creating so much stuff, im sure he picks and chooses too

hope im on the good list :)
