Those days people were paid with just enough food to keep going to work everyday so they could make the rich happy.
Not much different from living in the USA now days.
Most Americans get just enough money to pay rent with no medical
, worthless social security retirement and very little decent food as good food is way to expensive.
Who knows maybe those people were happier and better off than we are today. Maybe God was just as good to them.

Slavery was permitted in the Bible because of sin in the world. It existed before the Jews were formed as a nation and it existed after Israel was conquered. God allows many things to happen in the world such as storms, famine, murder, etc. Slavery, like divorce, is not preferred by God. Instead, it is allowed. Where many nations treated their slaves very badly, the Bible gave many rights and privileges to slaves. So, even though it isn't the best way to deal with people, because God has allowed man freedom, slavery then exists. God instructed the Israelites to treat them properly.
The Bible acknowledged the slave’s status as the property of the master (Ex. 21:23; Lev. 25:46),
The Bible restricted the master’s power over the slave. Ex. 21:20).
The slave was a member of the master’s household (Lev. 22:11)
The slave was required to rest on the Sabbath (Exodus 20:10; Deut. 5:14)
The slave was required and to participate in religious observances (Gen. 17:13; Exodus 12:44; Lev. 22:11).
The Bible prohibited extradition of slaves and granted them asylum (Deut. 23:16-17).
The servitude of a Hebrew debt-slave was limited to six years (Ex. 21:2; Deut. 15:12).
When a slave was freed, he was to receive gifts that enabled him to survive economically (Deut. 15:14)

Slavery was pretty much a necessity in ancient times. Economies could not survive without slavery. Not all slavery was wicked, either. It is very wrong to assume that everyone who owned slaves was a wicked man, just as it is very wrong to assume that every CEO that makes several million dollars a year is an evil man.
We live in a corrupt world. The point is that God can love anyone, from the slave, to the slave owner, and show them how to live for Him. No matter who you are, there is a compassionate and merciful God who will rescue you from this world.
God allows wickedness to continue because it is our choice, and because we bring glory to Him when we reject that wickedness.

God didn't. We did. Why don't you try not blaming God for a while and let people take responsibility for their own actions past, present and future. Man got himself kicked out of paradise. Man enslaved man. God's still waiting for us to make the right choices.

the Exodus is about the freed slaves leaving on their journey to the promised land. Read it again. [Exodus=Exit]
Slavery is about man's inhumanity to man. God didn't do it, man did as tempted by satan.

God has given us everything for free, including our freedom.
Man has masterminded slavery of all creatures, humans are subjects to humans but not to animals.
God must have wanted some caretakers for the benefits of mankind, but it comes out with the wrong initiative. In time we must learn.

He gave us free will.
The Israelites didn't have to stay in Egypt just cause
Joseph lived there.... they allowed themselves to
be slaves...
Then they cried for God's help and that is when he called Moses.

Because when the parchments were written. people didn't treat slaves very badly. in fact often poor people sold their children into slavery, knowing they would be fed and clothed better than if they kept them.
