I started to stutter when I was about six years old and ever since my life has been hell (emotionally). Sometimes I stutter a lot and sometimes I hardly stutter. I've notice that I stutter the most when I speak English (English is one of the two languages I speak). Why? I wish so bad I didn't stutter because my life would be so much different, both for me and my family. I know my mother suffers seeing me like this because she knows life is not easy for me...she and I both know that I'm not the shy person people think I am. I seem shy because I don't talk a lot or have a lot of friends, but I'm really a fun outgoing person who only whises she did not stutter so people could see who I am. I feel I need to do something about this fast becasue this condition is taking over my life.I need a solution because I can't take this no more...I'm going cray!!! I just want to be like veryone else and have a normal life.

Go to www.stutteringhelp.org and see what you can find that pertains to your age group. Be sure to check out "brochures for all ages," the referral lists of people who specialize in treating stuttering, and "check your library" to see what books or DVDs your library has of the Stuttering Foundation's materials.

There are small devices now that look much like hearing aids that can help people who stutter. The essentially work by delaying the stutterer's speech, and trick the brain into speaking normally. I've included a link that has some information on the device. Best of luck to you!

I feel really bad for you, I have a brother who sudders and he is now 63 yrs old, and he has never improved, but I am sure that in this day and time there should be some kind of help , times have changed since he was a child
Although there is no cure for stuttering, children can learn—over time—to improve their speech fluency, their attitudes toward stuttering, and their overall ability to communicate effectively. You can achieve these goals by finding a speech-language pathologist who specializes in stuttering, and by developing a network of support including other children who stutter and their families.
I know that don't really help, but I do hope you find happiness in spite of your handicap

A famous singer whose name escapes me now but, one of the songs he sang was "Trailers for sale or rent" Found that when he sang he didn't stutter. Try singing in English with a favorite soloist on CD. Then try singing what you have to say. It may help overcome stuttering. Sometimes stuttering becomes a habit when someone can't get a word in edgewise around other people who think faster.

I read a book not too long ago "Good Morning Holy Spirit" by Benny Hinn. He talks about how he had a stuttering problem and how God took it one day completely from him.
If you believe in Jesus and that He can Heal you, I suggest you go to www.doersoftheword.org
The pastor there has a toll free # that he can counsel you and guide you. (It is free btw)
I BELIEVE Jesus can Heal you from stuttering.

I pray the best!
God Bless!

There are many things that can help you with this problem but I don't think you should be asking us what the solutions are. Speech therapy is the most obvious answer but I think you also need to explore the reasons why it started at age 6 as well.

Man, my dad was a quiet man and that was because he stuttered when he spoke. My mum use to always finish the conversation off for him, all the time, to save him further embarassment.
20 years later i wish i knew what i do now. and that is when u begin to speak, take a deep breath, concentrate on the words u are about to say, focus on the subject.
Keep calm and learn to hear what you are saying.
Don't give anymore of your time to negativity.
